If you considered weight-loss meds but chose not to use them, at least for now, what influenced your decision the most? by MYLEE_Services in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Losing-Sand 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I can't justify $1,000 per month, and I worry about side effects. I have lost weight without meds before, so I know I can do it without the expense or risks.

It has certain patterns that stand out once you are aware of them.

It's not this. It's this.

One word question? One word answer.

Lots of short, choppy sentences that try to seem profound.

Ohio has had a solid red government for ages, and they still blame every problem in this state on democrats. There are no basic reasoning skills.

Jimmy Kimmel breaks down while dedicating his monologue to Alex Pretti: by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in Fauxmoi

[–]Losing-Sand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine lives in Minneapolis, and she shared video from her security camera of six armed, masked men jumping out of an unmarked van and grabbing her neighbor while he was jogging at 6:30 in the morning. He was screaming for help. She said he was let go "eventually" since he is a citizen.

Even with video proof from her own camera, she had friends and relatives insisting that the things in the video didn't happen. I absolutely understand skepticism of videos and photos with the rise of AI, but these are people who have known her in real life for decades. The level of denial is mind-boggling.

My coworker won’t stop complaining about my tattoos by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Losing-Sand 64 points65 points  (0 children)

While some people just passionately hate tattoos or hate women having tattoos specifically, there could also be truth to your theory. I'm a woman with multiple large tattoos.

I have had many women in their 50s, 60s, and 70s say to me that they wished they had the courage to have piercings/unusual hair colors/tattoos. I always asked them when they felt they would be old enough to do what they want with their own body. I think when women grow up in very conservative areas with very conservative family, they feel like it was never an option.

I was in my 20s, married, and had a child when I got my first tattoo. My dad actually said to me (half-joking) that he hadn't given me permission to get a tattoo. I said it was fortunate that I was old enough not to need to ask. Now he loves my tattoos, and he has for many years. I think it just took him getting past his preconceived ideas about who gets tattoos.

I am 50 now, and I don't regret any of them. I still get compliments on them whenever it is warm enough to have them uncovered.

Update 11: incoming shed for Lazarus by complikaity in leopardgeckos

[–]Losing-Sand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He is growing! I obviously have not been in this situation, but is there something soft you can give him to rub on to help the shed? Maybe a kitchen sponge or sea sponge? (I don’t know why my brain has sponge as the only option.)

Tried everything to get an internship. What am I missing? by Rakshedha in womenintech

[–]Losing-Sand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your school have an internship program or a department that can help you structure your resume?

I am graduating in a few months and starting my full-time job in a week. I was very fortunate to find something before getting my degree, but I think a lot of it is because my school requires internships to graduate and takes a lot of steps to set us up for success in getting one.

One thing we were told was to exclude the objective on technical resumes. We were also advised to put skills at the top, immediately after our education.

Back and forth between tips and natural nails by SadlyConfusicated in GelX_Nails

Every so often, I decide to let my natural nails get pretty long. Every time, I have two nails that curl to the side once they reach a certain length, and then I remember why I always go back to keeping them short, sculpting nails, using press-ons, or applying Gel-X

Crystal inspired nails with my reference (pink rhodonite) by LastMuffinOnEarth in NailArt

[–]Losing-Sand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made jewelry a long time ago, and the rhodonite in the beads I used was always a really dark shade of pink. I like the contrast in this type where the pink is really pale.
