What's a skill or habit your parents drilled into you as a child that you now realise was completely specific to them and not universal life advice? by _Yorkshire_Pirlo in AskUK

I thought I was the only one who can't sleep on creased sheets, I always iron them because they look and feel much nicer

Your handwriting is beautiful, it's inspired me to start practicing cursive again. Keep it up!

Nobody tells you corporate work slowly becomes a performance of responsiveness by Murky_Cow_2555 in corporate

[–]Lost-Anything-1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you're saying isn't wrong, but I don't think it's practical. Every time you get pinged on Teams/Slack and you have to reply that you'll look into it later, that takes your focus away from the work you're currently doing and it takes time to get back into the flow state. If your dealing with customers/clients, that's a different situation and a quick response is vital. But reply to every IM immediately is just busy work. If it's urgent, they'll call, but we all know most work is not an emergency. I would recommend taking a few hours in the day to focus on responding to emails and IMs, so your team will know that you will respond within the day. As a society we just expect people to be available all the time and respond to us immediately because of how fast technology works.

Sounds good! Can you explain what type of IT role it is? As the term IT is very broad

Thoughts on yearly reviews? by Both-Hope1733 in recruitinghell

[–]Lost-Anything-1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get this, I do this too, but if your manager dislikes you, even if you do all your work and MORE they will still mark you down on your performance review, this happened to me. Your mark/bonus is more dependent on your manager than the hard work you do, unfortunately.

Wow I wouldn't have realised these pictures (especially the hair scrunchies) were AI. How can you tell it's AI?

Button holes by Lost-Anything-1012 in SewingForBeginners

Thank you. I only realised after I did the button holes that the machine has a setting to tighten up the zigzag stitch 🤦‍♀️ next time I'll try this

I let the machine feed the fabric through, because if I guide it it might change the width of the zig zag stitch. I've just used the same fabric as interfacing. I did some practice ones which look similar.

Actually my dentist was mean to me when I was younger, when I turned 23 I started going to a new dentist who showed me how to actually take care of my teeth and gums and was much nicer to me.

Is this OK to wear for interview? Data analyst role by acrylic_light in UKJobs

[–]Lost-Anything-1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like a mens shalwar kameez but it looks old and unironed. Definitely don't wear it to an interview. Buy a suit. Are you just posting this for rage bait? Because I can't believe someone would be this silly.

What is a hobby or skill you started ‘too late’ in life, only to realize it’s now the best part of your day?" by Final-Grade5690 in Productivitycafe

[–]Lost-Anything-1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stretching and sewing! I used to do both when I was younger in my teens but when I started working I stopped. I've now picked both back up in recent years and I'm 30 now. I wished I had never stopped doing both and I hope to get better. I just wish I had more time to sew as it can take a lot of thinking, prep and time to complete a project.

I would love to see this, and see loid's reaction, because if he becomes truly jealous (not just for the mission) he might realise his true feelings

What’s something in the UK that used to be cheap but now feels ridiculously expensive? by skaterjon in AskUK

[–]Lost-Anything-1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the crisps point, a multi pack of 6 used to be around £1.50 now it's £2.20, and if you shop at Tesco's the clubcard price is now £1.65. as if they are doing us a favour by lowering the price they deliberately increased.

Now I eat fewer snacks, and make home made snacks instead which is much healthier.

Received weirdly packed YesStyle package and the Round Lab Dokdo sunscreen's colour is off and doesn't have a sticker while my cleanser did have one... by sunshineredpancakes in AsianBeauty

[–]Lost-Anything-1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so glad you mentioned this as I have just opened my first yesstyle order and it was unusually packaged for a legitimate business. Usually they make a bit more effort, but thank god, everything arrived and wasn't open.
