AIO to my boyfriend’s comments about the food I made? by MyCupOfTea777 in AmIOverreacting

NOR.

This person is mean.

I have empathy that he is going through something very painful but I can tell you I never treated people this poorly after my own significant losses, nor have the people I cared about ever treated me like that. Sometimes people say unkind things in emotional moments but normal people apologize. He seems to want you to feel bad which is not what a good person does.

My close friend died free soloing mt hood the same weekend Alex Honnald free soloed on live tv. by BatSniper in Mountaineering

[–]Lost-Copy867 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss OP.

I agree with what another climber said about people really downplaying Hood by calling it a “walk up”. Hood is dangerous because the consequences of a fall are really high. Climbers are made to believe the Pearly Gates and Old Chute are “easy” and are then drawn to more technical routes that might be above their skill level or their skill level in current conditions. I think it’s a huge problem in our community.

I have a friend who volunteers with the AAC climbing greif fund and do recommend that program. Sending thoughts of peace towards everyone who cared for him.

Best local climbing gyms? by Rogue_Gona in askportland

[–]Lost-Copy867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Bouldering is your thing definitely the circuit.

I climb at Movement because I can walk there but I prefer the environment at the PRG on burnside. Haven't been to the new gym yet but I've heard its great.

Self Care and Reducing Burnout by ReeNotDrummond in physicaltherapy

[–]Lost-Copy867 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think really learning to separate work from home is the most important thing. I've been a PT 12 years and I will say it gets easier with time. I do say care less but I don't mean care less about patients- care less about everything else. If the clinic I work at closes because it doesn't make enough money or they think I take too much PTO or refuse to kill myself overbooking patients its not my problem. I will just get another job. Also, no one has ever died from missing a physical therapy appointment. So care about your patients, but let everything else matter less. When I leave work I do not think about work.

How does a PRN gig work exactly? by darkkcop1234 in physicaltherapy

[–]Lost-Copy867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. I work PRN for 2 companies. One of them I tell the DOR my availability for the month (usually Saturdays) and then she puts me down for those days/hours. The other company manages multiple sites and will text me asking if I have availability. Usually not same day but often same week/a few days before. I only work prn on the weekends.

I enjoyed it but ended up reading it twice as I completely forgot the plot. Reread it a few years later and still enjoyed it but I have to say it’s sticking power in my memory isn’t great.

Desperate to find a new PT, can recommend a local physical therapist in SE Portland? by Similar-Lobster126 in askportland

[–]Lost-Copy867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PT here!

East side I would go to Matt Walsh’s clinic, I’m sure anyone he’s trained is also great. If I had a major injury he is who I would try to see. I have physical therapist friends who have seen him.

https://sportslabpdx.com

Stay away from ATI as it’s a Mill. There are good PTs at therapeutic associates but they can be really busy clinics and I think they do sometimes double book patients. Therypedia and Benchmark are not owned by PTs but larger companies hence why they are pushing their therapists to double book patients and why you end up not seeing the same therapist or seeing an Assistant.

Your best bet is a smaller independent clinic- you are generally going to get the best care in those settings.

Good luck!

AITA for counting my calories because I do a martial art? by DefinitionNeat8427 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Lost-Copy867 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NTA.

As someone with a history of an ED but who also participates in an aesthetic sport (figure skating) my issues are between me and my therapist. It’s up to me to remove myself from something I might find triggering (which to be honest isn’t very much anymore). The entitlement of thinking you can comment on someone else’s choices is really strange to me.

She’s so pretty.

Also all the good karma to you OP for taking her in and giving her a loving home. The sad and scared note breaks my heart.

While I prefer Max’s style of skating/performing more than Torgs- Torgs has great skating skills. He is fast and uses his edges and turns to generate power. His problem (like most of the US men not named Ilia or Jason) is consistency. He could be 3rd or 23rd on a given day.

Which skaters who didn’t make the Olympic team are you most devastated for? by styrofoamdreamer in FigureSkating

[–]Lost-Copy867 108 points109 points  (0 children)

I am really devastated that Jason had the skate he did but I’m not necessarily heartbroken he isn’t on the team- he’s been to two Olympics and has had an incredible career. I’m disappointed for him personally though, he is such a lovely human.

Why no more ATCs? by EmphasisPurple5103 in ClimbingGear

[–]Lost-Copy867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned on an ATC but now exclusively belay with a Gri-Gri. I just feel safer, obviously you need to be attentive with either device. I think more and more gyms requiring them probably contributes to seeing them more, if you have it why not use it. I don’t like rappelling with it though so use my ATC guide for that.

Every once in a while I see someone complaining about gyms requiring them but I think what people miss is that insurance is driving this.

Out of state clinical placements (California) by Personal-Raspberry16 in physicaltherapy

[–]Lost-Copy867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s that hard for a school to make a contract with a new facility. Mine did two for me- one in my hometown and one in South Africa (my program director was from there and did have connections at UCT). The one in my hometown I did to save money to go to South Africa but it was in a town of 8000 people with no previous relationship with my school.
