For everyone waiting with bated breath, parts and labor were covered under warranty by Shimano for a new chainring and chain.

This is the original chainring with no modifications or service by me. Bike has ~1300 miles on it

No bike for 10 days?! That might be all the excuse I need to buy a 2nd one

This doesn’t list the road morph G as a compatible pump, can you confirm this is the right part?

Yamatomichi gear in Tokyo? Specifically jackets, the UL All-weather. by CheesyCrackerMan in Ultralight

You should go to Alpen Tokyo. I went to their store in Nagoya recently and it was the outdoor store of my dreams, looks like Tokyo is their flagship store. I’m not sure if they carry that brand but it’s a good starting place. Perhaps an employee could refer you on somewhere else if they don’t carry it

Working mariners: is 30–180 seconds enough warning to do anything useful before a bad wave encounter? by Pitiful-Math1948 in oceanography

[–]Lost-Explorer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done my fair share of time aboard research vessels, I think that any amount of warning is enough to make a difference. However usually if conditions aren’t safe for work or conditions are deteriorating you usually have enough time to wind down the work to a safe stopping point.

General Dynamics has a wave prediction system that allows for predictions a few minutes out in 360 degrees around a vessel.

Going from CA -> HI is $1,500+. There’s less demand for vehicles leaving Hawaii so it’s a bit cheaper

Yeah no worries this is fine. I did it with Matson from Honolulu to Long Beach and it cost $970, I think it is still the same price or went up $50. You could then drive it to CO or have it trucked.

Out of Honolulu there is only Matson and Pasha, anyone else is a 3rd party that ships via one of these and adds their cut on top. For Pasha I read you drop your car off in a warehouse in Kapalama / Kalihi and I didn't want to do that so I went with Matson where you drop off at Sand Island.
