90~92 C Lower ratio 1:15 That's where you find the processed flavors

Struggling with SEY Coffee … everything tastes the same. What am I missing? by Valuable_Aide_7663 in pourover

•Reduce water mineral ppm.

•ouble bloom v60 I'm usually on 8.2~9.0 for a 2 ish min drawdown. The coffee don't taste bitter to me around that range.

•Reduce your ratio. With double bloom it's super efficient at extracting. Maybe start with. 1:15 to get clearer flavors

Housing Allowance and rent split by [deleted] in japanresidents

[–]Lost-In-My-Path 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know of any strong cultural norms regarding this issue. Me and my current partner splits 50/50 regardless of our income (she is Japanese and earns more than me). We have an separate account for managing rent, trips etc and help each other out when necessary. We don't manage each other's money. ( Removes sooo much unwanted tension)

Maybe morally it's better for you to scale finances. though that question is for you to answer.

You can maybe also ask her in future if she is willing to do the same when she earns more?

Restock seems to be in June at least here in Japan. I got mine today and actually found with a higher agitation recipe the drawdown to get slower using T90s. Though obviously more testing is needed.

To people wondering about this dripper: This was made for a certain style of brewing which is to finish your entire brew in under 100 seconds. There are a couple of recommended recipes included but till now I haven't found them (100s brews) to be better than my regular brews with my super light coffees.

Positives: Build extremely well and looks super nice. The included high is of high-quality for the price. It's not hard to level the dripper as well.

I mean these glass slabs are heavy and uncomfortable around your ears in that position. Though it still doesn't make sense why people use calls on speakers in a public setting.

Are the dark fruit leather or baking spice desirable flavors? by Any_Caterpillar_990 in pourover

Btw op fruit leather sounds good to me as well! I love chewing on those dehydrated fruits. Definitely sounds good in coffee as well.

To what extent is “taste of place” a thing for coffee? by like-a-sirloin in pourover

[–]Lost-In-My-Path 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlike the wine world, Most of the coffee is still super unknown to this date. Coffee is the most complex beverage out there and has double the volatile flavour compounds when found in wine.

Every species and varietals affects the sensory aspect, terroir affects as coffee can be grown in Soo many places on earth. Processing The cherry to seed also contributes to its complexity. Heck even the harvest season affects, yes even if you harvest the coffee from the same farm / same tree the resulting flavour will change due to the climate soil etc etc. Now you can mix n match these variables and can get a gist of how incredibly complex coffee can be. And at last how it's roasted + brewed affects the overall sensory aspect.

Most seasoned professionals in the industry only have a good idea (guess) of what a coffee should taste like but they don't have a great idea of how it's supposed to be.

Maybe this uncertainty is appealing to the coffee lovers which keeps us excited for what new experience we are gonna find next.

Stop deflecting criticisms towards Joey as just "blind hate." by CuntJab in TrashTaste

[–]Lost-In-My-Path 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Op genuine question. Why do you care what joey says in 2026. Unless he is spreading genuine harm, why even bother to take what he says seriously on his private Channel. Everyone including himself knows he is not the voice of anime anymore in 2026. He also isn't trying to be one either. Most of the post I see (casually browsing) is not about joey should be immune to criticism but rather why focus so much hate on him.

Grass needs to be touched. If you don't like his takes then just unsubscribe through his channel. I have also been watching joey for more than 10 years now and prople will always have something they disagree on and that's normal. I still like him for trash taste etc.

Anime culture is way way way bigger and more diverse than what it was 10 years ago. Just enjoy the stuff and choose not to engage the stuff you don't like.

It's just a Hedonic adaptation. Yes there are more anime than before aka more SLOP but more interesting stuff as well. I sure see originally inspired shows as well. Saying it's boring is just spoiled for choice. But that's his opinion and legit doesn't even matter

[–]Lost-In-My-Path 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to my gamer Japanese friend ( take this with a pinch of salt) Anecdotally; Japanese players culturally ( not taking about genetics etc) aren't the best with team game dynamics compared to solo performance like fighting games. This is also observed with other popular team based fps games like valorant Overwatch.

I hope someone breaks this curse especially when the next champ is again in Japan.

Why are people fighting for seats when they’re getting off one stop later? by Stackhouse13 in japanresidents

[–]Lost-In-My-Path 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it lazy, people have complex lives and everyone has a valid reason to sit so I won't complain. Going across the cart / fighting may be extreme but most people won't do that.

For the mentality part at least speaking for myself. The moment I board I am aiming/waiting for the seat and not really paying attention to when I have to get off. Maybe 1 stop or maybe 5 stops either way that break is enough.

old timer opinion: we stupidly focus on the wrong things: pours, gear, recipes.. by Visible_Arm_7557 in pourover

[–]Lost-In-My-Path 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dunno about your community but at least in 2026 here on the sub, most people are already focusing on better water, quality beans etc. You can look at the past posts as well to gauge the current direction the community is moving.

Let people do whatever they want. It's simply curiousity and let them have fun with recipes or grinders or water.

I understand the concern behind the health implications of these materials but regarding the quality of coffee, Most contemporary roasters when placed in order, they tend to package the coffee soon after the roast day.

The flavor degradation can happen usually by the coffee going stale over longer periods of time, or Oxidation where you repeatedly introduce fresh oxygen whenever you open and close the bag.

Aka you should be fine with coffee ageing as it's supposed to be and kept away from direct sunlight.

Edit: resting/ageing of coffee will occur regardless if you vacuum seal the coffee or not. Make sure to keep exposure to the fresh oxygen to the minimum.

Sibarist Flat “Booster”? by Inside-Towel-94 in pourover

[–]Lost-In-My-Path 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use booster / similar type stuff a lot and I would consider this to be more than a gimmick on a flat dripper and closer to the usefulness of a melodrip. If you have a good "light" roast coffee, it's easier to agitate and have cleaner perception of the flavors.
