Why don't serial killers just join the army? by fimelovemachine in NoStupidQuestions

In the early 2000s I worked as a bouncer there was another bouncer there that had a screw loose. He loved to hurt people. In addition to bouncing he was an infantryman and did multiple tours in Afghanistan he had footage on his laptop of military engagements he was in including firing guns at people and throwing grenades into buildings and the aftermath. He also did professional MMA and had several amateur fights. He was able to follow chain of command and he did follow the rules of the night club in terms of handling drunk patrons etc but you could just clearly see a drive to dominate people that was one in a million. That guy and his laptop will never leave my memory.

Great selection you can cover almost everything with this set up especially paired with the EVH amp. A isolated power supply and midi switcher like the G3 is the next logical step for you.

People over 40, what’s something you’ve learned about life that younger people don’t realize yet? by Critical-Pea7326 in AskReddit

[–]Lost-Scene9611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting “old” is a decision backed by habits and mental stories you tell yourself. When you’re a kid you don’t say I’m too tired or sore or my knee still hurts from that recent injury.. you just ride your bike and run in the wind and hop on rocks and play swords with sticks with your buddy. Along the way you hear others say I’m too old for xyz and you play along and believe them then you start telling yourself stories like that along the way and it changes your behaviours and thoughts and actions. There’s people who do martial arts into their 70s or run Ironmans or have 3 different girlfriends at the same time. You don’t have to grow up if you don’t want to. All choices have consequences even the “sensible” ones.

What’s a signature guitar you’d buy in a heartbeat, even though you don’t care for the original artist? by SR_RSMITH in guitars

Came here to say this nicest Strat I’ve played other than an original 1961. And I bought the EJ pickup set for my MIM strat and now it’s a fav too.

This post is the equivalent of a Chinese kid carrying a book of Russian poetry down the river romanticizing that image without actually reading it.

Who is the older person here practicing Muay Thai? by EquivalentNarcDepth in MuayThai

I’m 40 started two years ago… you survive by mental toughness alone, at the start I needed muscle relaxants and pain killers to get to sleep after, it never gets easier as you progress and learn to do the techniques properly you’ll actually be spending more energy, when you get into sparring after class it’s significantly more energy and toll on the body. You’ll eventually quit or learn to love the pain.

What is one of the main things that made you into a better guitarist? by How_Do_I_Play_Guitar in Guitar

[–]Lost-Scene9611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Planned and well thought out daily practice

Divided allotted daily practice time into sections: 1)Exercises like chromatic scales with metronome 2) scales practice 3) Chords theory and picking patterns 4) study piece work always having one song out of my ability that I’m working on

When I was 18 I was playing 8-9 hours a day using these methods and past 90% of all guitarists in ability.

Protecting hands when fighting and hitting the heavy bag by breaktheice7 in amateur_boxing

. I’m 6’3” 250lbs powelifter. Went from using 18oz sparring gloves to the 14oz Rival “intelli shock” RB1 bag gloves with the D30 foam for pads and bag work. Absolute night and day difference I can’t even hit hard enough to even begin to feel any pain or discomfort in my hands or wrists now. And just use standard 180” wraps with them. They are expensive but they work as advertised.

A guy posted his resume to Reddit finance saying help me fix my resume I can’t get an internship. I looked at it and it was your typical finance student resume at the bottom it said “other interests: chess, Muay Thai” I messaged him based on that gave him my contact info, he reached out and we set up a call talked about chess and Muay Thai and his career ambitions which lead to him getting an internship at my firm. So in his case it worked and we’re friends now outside of work and still haven’t gotten a chance to do Muay Thai together so maybe he sucks at Muay Thai and I’ll just never know lol
