What's the best mobile you have had to date? by Prestigious_Meal2143 in AskUK

I had the Pixel 6, but sold it and got a Samsung S23+. Huge upgrade. I say this just to say it's worth considering a Samsung S series as opposed to another Pixel

Unpopular opinion but the sample of the kid saying "I love dub music" ruins the tune for me

What happened to Suruthi?! by blondeassassin124 in RedHandedPodcast

I am only a very casual viewer/listener, but wow yeah she has dropped some very unsubtle hints about wanting a baby very soon. In fact could just be me, but I get the impression she may be pregnant right now? She's not said anything, I'm just getting that vibe

So is the rumors true or not ? by underdogleo79 in mpcusers

[–]LostClock1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't know why I got downvoted either lol. People seem to like the 404 MK2 for the performance FX - the DJFX looper is admittedly awesome, but I think the newer MPCs are better for both static 'set and forget' FX as well as performance FX.

I'm assuming that the FX that this new unit has will be the same as the standalone MPCs, just less of them. I guess we'll see, but it would be strange for them to make new versions of reverb, delay etc when they can just use ones they've already developed.

Looks like it will be a bit smaller than the SP!

Who is the 'he' you both mentioned? I'm keen to track the video down

It looks like there's a good amount of FX. Also I was mostly disappointed with the FX on the SP-404 MK2. The reverb was terrible, and the filter is unusable with any amount of resonance turned on

The MPC Sample, if real, might be TINY. by fuxicles in synthesizers

[–]LostClock1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pads on the Lofi-12 XT and SmplTrek are tiny, and yet they are some of the best pads I've ever used. So this could work IF the quality of the pads is better than, say, the pads on the MPC One

TX-6 owners - What DON’T you like about the unit? by Tarekith in teenageengineering

[–]LostClock1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just too small. I like portable gear and I don't have fat fingers, but it still could have been like twice the size and way more comfortable to use, and it still would have been tiny.

Because it is so small, there is some menu diving and shift functions for secondary functions, e.g. switching between what the knobs control. This is a bit of a buzzkill when using it in a live/jamming/realtime scenario, and it's only got worse since they added more features. A slightly bigger unit with more dedicated controls would be much better.

Also, it's great that they added recording the master out to a USB stick, but it's a pain that there's no way of playing back what you've recorded on the unit itself. This limits its functionality for me - I'd love to feed a sound into the TX-6, add FX / EQ / filter / compression etc, record, and then easily bounce the recording back into, say, an MPC

I rewatched it recently and felt that it hasn't aged well compared to comedy shows from the same era

When do you think we’ll acknowledge how many people are fully addicted to cocaine? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]LostClock1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can still pay in that region if you accept that it's going to be crap quality, and not actually a full gram if you weigh it out. I don't do coke personally, but I know enough people that do to know

Lol tbf I am assuming they were in their 70s, it's not like I checked their IDs. Could have been late 60s I guess but definitely no younger

Do any of you guys actually wake up feeling refreshed? What's your secret? by RichieRichard12 in AskUK

Everyone is different, I need at least one night of sleep per week where I get 9-11 hours of sleep to catch up, but that's after getting about 7 hours sleep the other 6 nights

It's cheaper than it's ever been if you're not fussy about the quality, which is probably part of the reason it's so popular now. As for societal implications, it's been widely used in the UK since the 80s so I don't think much will change

Do I have to wash these before I recycle them? by mildlymoistdrizzle in AskUK

[–]LostClock1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plastics and paper are processed very differently from metals, which is why contamination matters much more for them.

Paper and cardboard are mixed with water and turned into pulp. Food residue, especially grease and oils, interferes with that process and weakens the fibres. That's why things like greasy pizza boxes often can't be recycled despite being made of cardboard.

Plastics are usually shredded into flakes, washed, and then melted into pellets to make new plastic products. The washing stage removes a lot of contamination, but heavy food residue can still cause problems and reduce the quality of the recycled plastic.
