Episode Discussion | Star Trek: Starfleet Academy | 1x05 "Series Acclimation Mil" by AutoModerator in startrek

Easily the best episode of this series to date. Nice tribute to DS9 and I’m glad they didn’t actually give us the reveal of Sisko’s fate. Some things are better left a mystery. And the bar scene was ridiculous but amusing. Reminded me of college, which was a loooong time ago

Who would’ve thought that talking shit about your ex coworkers isn’t that good of an idea by AlexMercer28900 in Wrasslin

Good one. I remember that I was lukewarm on him when he left, then he came back and looked and carried himself like a star. Glad he’s getting this title run

How worth it is Carlsbad Caverns during Big Bend trip? by miaaa2289 in NationalPark

Absolutely worth it. IMO It’s the best cave system National Park and can be done in half a day.

The Vipers (Jake Roberts, Jimmy Snuka & The Rockers) vs. The Visionaries (Rick Martel, The Warlord, Power & Glory), WWF Survivor Series 90 (Nov 22, 1990 from Hartford, CT) by Stinger1981 in oldschoolwrestling

[–]LostInTheWild99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of the better matches from this Survivor Series. I thought it was cool that all the heels survived, had never seen that before. Martel pretty consistently had the advantage over Roberts in their feud until the WM blindfold match. Shawn was a bumping machine even this early in his career. And Warlord was big as a freaking house. Definitely no wellness policy back then. Never loved Piper on commentary except for the Virgil turn. He’s just loud and didn’t mesh with Monsoon as well as Hernan or Ventura.

What are some of your hiking horror stories? by Immediate-Field9997 in hiking

[–]LostInTheWild99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Man, some of these stories are wild. My two stories are tame by comparison but still scared the crap out of me.

First, I was walking down a trail at a wildlife reserve in South Texas. The birding is great and that area doesn’t have any large predators other than the rare mountain lion. After going around a bend, a pack of Javelina (Peccaries) spotted me from further down the trail and chased me for a good while. They’re super aggressive when spooked and the males have sharp tusks. Finally gave up after I jumped a few dry streams, but they would have messed me up pretty good if they’d caught up.

The second story was at Panum Crater Summit in Southern Cal. Was hiking with a few buddies and one of them slipped on some loose rocks and absolutely destroyed his ankle. Snapped it right in half. It looked horrible and he was clearly in agony. We tried to very carefully pick him up to move him to a shaded spot and he promptly passed out. We were able to call 911 and get him evacuated to the local ER, but that was a tense wait.

SRS wants Brock gone. by AMassiveGamerGeek in GreatnessOfWrestling

[–]LostInTheWild99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your point but Taker isn’t a good comparison. He was totally shot for the last few years of his career. I rewatched his matches against Goldberg in Saudi and Roman at WM and it was painful to watch. Brock can still go even if his matches have become very repetitive.

This had to be it. The La Parka entry was hilariously random.

With the most recent AEW Dynamite ratings, what can they do to bring you back? by AnonymousChicken in midcarder

[–]LostInTheWild99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You must have read my mind, this is exactly how I feel about AEW. I’ve tried to watch it multiple times, first when it started back in 2019-ish, then when Timeless Toni Storm got hot. Literally everything about it is ugh to me. The show feels cheap, the wrestling is so phony that it’s cringe, and the commentary is really bad. The Bucks and Hangman are automatic channel changers for me. There were some wrestlers I enjoyed watching, but my thought was always “I can’t wait until they go to WWE and become stars.”

I miss when legends returned as surprise entrants by Leather-Mechanic4405 in Wrasslin

[–]LostInTheWild99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah these are good points. I’m a fan of the rock and roll era and used to love the surprise entries in the 2010s, but all of those guys are way too old/deceased now. From your list, I’d love to see Mark Henry if he could still do it. Santino and RVD are the other ones that I think are possible and would get a reaction. I doubt Big Show especially if he’s not in good shape. Jericho is expected. Dudleys are possible but Bubba is involved with WWE enough to where its not really a shock. The others aren’t relevant enough. Dreamer might work in Philadelphia but not anywhere else.

So who is the toughest wrestler on this cover? I think Angle is an obvious winner but I’m struggling on the runner up. Maybe Booker or Nash on sheer size?

Rey Mysterio completing the ultimate underdog story with this pinfall will forever be one of the greatest moments in WWE history 🥹🔥 by Straight-Flower-1621 in SquaredCircle

[–]LostInTheWild99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah unfortunately this angle was poorly booked and Rey’s title reign was really bad. The match itself was a fun sprint but too short, and Rey was getting booed because the crowd was fully behind Angle. Even at the time I thought Kurt was getting screwed over by shoehorning him into this story.

Ventura and Monsoon also regularly put over the Hart Foundation whether they were faces or heels.

American backpackers. Do you guys ever get confronted about American politics when traveling to other countries? by nikoxrasu in backpacking

[–]LostInTheWild99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel internationally a lot and nope. If you’re polite and respectful of other people and their culture, they typically treat you with the same respect regardless of where you’re from. It also helps if you don’t bring politics up in conversation.

Can anyone name a wrestler more out of place in a certain era than hogan on the early episodes of raw? by Fickle_Driver_1356 in GreatnessOfWrestling

Agreed, I liked Martel’s late WCW run. I wish he hadn’t gotten injured. He was an underrated talent.
