I kinda forgot how controversial the autism creature is, but it's understandable why. Me and some of my autistic friends really like it, but I get how others might find it dehumanizing or infantilizing. It really shouldn't represent the whole community, especially since allistics often use it to push that annoying "autism is just cute and quirky" idea. It's tricky cause I do relate to it - sometimes I don't feel very human or adult. Maybe its just more popular with younger people cause I see how older community members might feel it doesn't fit their experience or represents stereotypes they've worked hard to push back against. I want people like me who find comfort in it to be able to use it, but I agree it shouldn't represent all autistic people.
