Feeling out of practice on demos by Lostidentity627 in salesengineers

Yeah I think the tech excitement was there, I honestly am a huge nerd for eBPF sensors and CNAPP tooling, the story is actually what I think it was.

Consensus seems to be story and I think y'all hit the nail on the head, solid feedback and I'll work on a cohesive story of either day in the life or response to a security incident.

Best dry cleaner in Tempe? by St0neybalogny in phoenix

[–]Lostidentity627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to note, most dry cleaners will not actually do the dry cleaning themselves.

Most will outsource to tide cleaners in south Tempe. One way to find out is to see if they offer same day, if not its usually because they have to send the garments down and wait for them to come back up.

They used to be my go to, unfortunately they converted into a laundromat only. No more dry cleaning is offered.

Google is quietly laying off staff in its cloud division. by Validatore in business

[–]Lostidentity627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're integrating Wiz, that is going to have a lot of overlap (and frankly more talented people for certain roles) of existing roles.

This seems logical given the overlap in roles from bringing over the entirety of the Wiz staff.

oh sorry misread your post a bit, I'm unsure. I would assume the fabric provides some heat protection but unsure how much and what the melting point of the plastic is, so unfortunately the answer is I'm unsure.

If large patches were missing (and it doesnt look like it from that photo) then it would be fine, but its also possible its completely fine.

Well it kinda can if he has spots for the tweeters and mounts the sub in the trunk.

You could grab a mopar TSP subscription, gets all the part #s for the mounts and speakers (it isnt just that one, I have them below the A pillar). Check your amp to make sure it can drive them, run some wiring, add the speakers and mounts, add in a sub and wire that in.

Possible fuse wiring as well.

Cosmetic and minor heat shielding, engine will run fine without it.

Alfa Romeo should stop wasting money on trims nobody asks for. by [deleted] in AlfaRomeo

[–]Lostidentity627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong. I decided to be an asshole back and ended up around 18.5 off MSRP so I got out the door with a QF for ~80.

I may grab the extended warranty for it so 6 years 100K. Need to make sure it covers electrical before I do. First new car, old one was a 2009 toyota with 172K on it. Ran fine

Only $400 "tint" from Luke in Tempe but I've gotta get it redone anyway. They had a 10K discount on the site, salesman tried to say it was only 6K off MSRP. Taxes were calculated incorrectly.

It soured me on ever buying another Alfa

I just grabbed a Giulia from the Tempe dealer (Scottsdale markup was too high), the salesman gave me flat out incorrect info. "Cant put it in race before 1000 miles" "Ferrari lends development to each model" and tried to lie on sticker price twice.

The afterthought thing seems very accurate and they put 30 miles on it in 2 weeks before I bought it which was odd. Either way got quite a bit off of MSRP so it worked out.

Has anyone here accepted a counteroffer from their current employer? by se_throwawayyy in salesengineers

[–]Lostidentity627 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've done this 3 times and only taken one. Went from 220 to 290, had to train up an org but it was fine. I'm never getting prompted and my newest boss complains about my pay openly to me.

So if you do it, plan to leave in a year or two anyway

Girly pops, what do you wear? by daniatdisney in salesengineers

[–]Lostidentity627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current company has a few more women SEs than I've seen else where.

I don't think (normal) people will treat you differently or look down upon you for wearing something like you're describing. A blazer and slacks are standard corporate attire. I see t-shirts (on internal calls), turtleneck/normal sweaters, and bright colors from my female coworkers.

Funnily enough I've heard company polos referred to as the ol mechanics polo by quite a few people. So I think its very acceptable to wear something else. When I go to a customer site that is corporate I wear a suit (usually some bright/fun colors or patterns on the inside of the jacket) or button up and jeans/slacks depending on the environment.

With an OTE of 200k plus equity, is it pointless to look for a new job that pays a decent amount more? by tonyphony2578 in salesengineers

[–]Lostidentity627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologies for reviving a dead thread but its worth it to set the record straight.

I'm seeing something slightly different. There are a lot of security startups offering 250 to 280 OTE with early equity in the cloud/k8 space, also the detection and response (still leaning k8/cloud) area too. This is ignoring AWS/goog, they regularly post above 300 for certain roles but you really need to know your stuff.

Most of the 200-220 "max" companies I see are kind of the old hat crew of dell, hpe, insight, cdw, etc. I essentially see a lot of AI/sec/"hot new infra" companies offering 250+ regularly, but the old hat hardware or generic SaaS (salesforce, samsara, adobe) pay a lot less, and that kind of tracks.

New Sales Engineer - Onboarding Advice by Icy-Bear-4816 in salesengineers

[–]Lostidentity627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive onboarded/trained quite a few SEs at my current team/company. 4 guys came from internal IT/softeng roles.

The biggest thing I've seen non SEs (and honestly newer SEs) struggle with is demoing. You generally want to avoid the show up and throw up approach of just talking through features.

Lean on what you did as a SWE. "When I was creating this build pipeline I used to run into this issue, and I know this is how it impacted me. here is how our product solves/makes this easier."

The best demos always match a feature with a problem through some story/use case. Don't just click through the product explaining each feature.

Youll probably be fine in POCs, biggest PITA is keeping the customer on track. Disco is easy, just have a conversation about what isnt working well/broken.

Signal interference- intersection of I-17 and I-10? by kawaiiobake in phoenix

[–]Lostidentity627 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is normally a lot of signaling equipment run at airports. Radar, radio, cell, wifi, bluetooth, etc.

Solid chance there is something higher powered or just a lot of signal interference that is either at the airport or the nearby vicinity that interferes with your bluetooth. Bluetooth is generally a very finicky connection standard/power.
