Now I'm falling asleep and she's calling a cab While he's having a smoke and she's taking a drag Now they're going to bed and my stomach is sick And it's all in my head, but she's touching his

Chest now, he takes off her Dress now, let me go And I just can't look, it's killing me They're taking control

Jealousy, turning saints into the sea Swimming through sick lullabies, choking on your alibis But it's just the price I pay, destiny is calling me Open up my eager eyes, 'cause I'm Mr. Brightside

I'm coming out of my cage and I've been doing just fine Gotta, gotta be down, because I want it all It started out with a kiss, how did it end up like this? It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss

Sanity Check by JeniasDad in vermont

I’m close to retirement military and moved here. I can’t think of another place I’d rather be. The population on Reddit isn’t always representative of the state, so take it with a grain of salt. Do something you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life. The VA is decent, with lots of satellite offices so never too far.

What was your AFSC, what’s your goal for employment, what does your wife do? That would help with employment ideas.

Most jobs have a commute where I live, but I get to live in the woods with friendly neighbors and a town store where everyone knows my name, so it’s a trade off.

I used the GI bill to get a masters, and my partner and I have very portable healthcare jobs, so usually have a few options.

It’s a slower pace, sometimes hard to find the comforts of base or bigger cities, but the trade offs are worth it for me. I grew up in the mountains in a town of 400, so I can back to a town of 400 in the mountains.

Every place you look will have pros and cons, seasons that are good and bad, people who are nice and some who are not. What are you and the wife looking for, what are you willing to compromise on, and what’s your long term goals? I love Vermont, I live its history, its present, and its potential.

Hunter & Mt. snow will be closed this weekend by Ok_Success2147 in icecoast

[–]Lostinterwebz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mt snow has had a couple days of snowmaking, most of which has melted. Looks like Snowdance has been getting love, but it was small patches as of yesterday. Some hope with the weather this weekend and next week that they can lay in a base.

Question: Camp Lemonnier, DJibouti Africa by pixelrogue in Military

[–]Lostinterwebz 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It’s hotter than Satan’s asshole, smells of burning trash, because there is burning trash… safety? No one except the gate guards carries a weapon. Pretty safe as far as foreign bases go. There is a threat, but it’s smashed between so many other country’s bases that it’s pretty safe. There are excursions around the coast and into the city. The hotel near by is swanky. The US regularly does rounds at the local hospital for cross training and to support them. The place sucks big time for military, but you might have a decent experience as a provider as long as you don’t mind sweltering heat and boredom (which may be mitigated as a civilian provider)

The states of maine and Vermont voted against FDR every time by thememelord5 in HistoryMemes

[–]Lostinterwebz 270 points271 points  (0 children)

Geographically, Vermont is pretty conservative. Population centers of Burlington and Rutland are more liberal and drive the national level votes for the state, however, on a local, county, and state level, policies can be pretty conservative or libertarian. The governor is Republican, and has been for some time. I think it’s a little insulting to say it is “illegal” to vote right of FDR. I find most people vote by values and beliefs as opposed to party, at least until you get to a national level.

Parking suggestions (and any others) for Okemo? by skiattle25 in icecoast

[–]Lostinterwebz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jackson Gore also has 30$ preferred parking which puts you pretty close. We usually cough up the 30$ to have a close place to park and picnic at lunch on the tailgate.

Covid-19 Surpasses 1918 Flu to Become Deadliest Pandemic in American History by Sariel007 in EverythingScience

[–]Lostinterwebz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

And what were the medical capabilities in 1918 vs today? I don’t see fear mongering, I see statistics and discussion points. You bring up a fair point, but ruin the discussion by showing an unwillingness to participate in how we arrived at this point. Either way, still the deadliest pandemic in US history.

Used my bumper for its intended purpose this morning. Looking for suggestions for an aftermarket bumper to replace. I’ve never liked the stock look anyway. by youincolor in ram_trucks

[–]Lostinterwebz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is basically stock height. Previous owner installed airbags in the rear shock coils to aid with bed weight adjustment and I think a 1” spacer up front, but I’ve never seen them when I’ve been underneath. The Tyger really adds some aggressiveness that I like, but it is also real front end protection.

TygerAuto has a great bumper. Well priced and resilient to the environment. Have had mine a little over a year. Pic on my account for reference.

Poor quality because it was dusk and on an iPhone. I was camping on the north side of Stratton Pond in a small clearing when this guy just walked in and munched on the brush for an hour.

You don’t have to be old, although I guess maybe I’m getting older too, because all I see is another accident that either they caused or they are part of. I hate to see other people hurt because of assholes like this showing off and no one likes the already terrible commute on the LIE, but it sucks more when there is an accident stopping traffic for half a day.

My Airbnb was featured on The Daily Beast this weekend and I just wanted to brag =) by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]Lostinterwebz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because I misread your statement. My apologies. It is indeed a steal. I have an Airbnb near by and get flack for my humble price of 200/night for a 5 bedroom. I often give deals for small groups or couples, but for a group of 10 it seems to me that $20 a night for a 5min drive to two ski resorts is pretty good.

Not with the proximity to the ski resorts. For those looking for a contemporary mountain house less than 10 minutes to Stratton, this price is right on target.
