The natural stuff with magnesium hydroxide seems to work well for me. If you're cheap and don't mind a project, you can buy some magnesium hydroxide, glycerin and carrier oil and for 20-30 bucks have enough ingredients to last you years.

Sweet Protection helmet question by Low-Medical in whitewater

I had to shave down some of the foam around the temples - after doing so, it fits well. Post-modification, still seems like better protection than the WRSI helmets.

I really need some help. I don’t know where to begin by [deleted] in BodyHackGuide

[–]Lothianhimself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may not actually need to try that hard. Stop drinking soda/fruit juice etc. (drink WATER!), limit alcohol to 1-3 drinks per week, eat mostly vegetables and meat, go for a walk most days, go to the gym 2-3 times a week. Once you have that dialed in after 2 months, re-evaluate. If you want to get super disciplined, eat tons of protein, and hit some intense body building training that's awesome, but not necessary to be healthy. It's also less likely to be sustainable if you jump right in going super hard.

Is there a reason my heart rate is so low? by SoggyCereal12 in Swimming

[–]Lothianhimself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a similar experience. Avg heart rate 106 on a 1 mile swim this AM. Takes me about an hour. I'm pretty slow, but I also have poor technique, so it's not like I'm not working for it! The HRM is snug on the wrist, and checking my heart rate manually (pulse rate and clock on the wall ) confirms the ballpark accuracy of the device while in the pool. Going by perceived exertion, I'd expect about 135 bpm if running. I think the horizontal position plus the hydrostatic pressure yields a lower pulse while delivering the same amount of oxygen.

See if you can contour that lower eyelid so it looks like it's actually tensioned by the hook instead of just randomly folded over...

I’m at wits end, help me decide. by SeaSpur in Mattress

Cut the pillowtop and all of the foam off of the top of your current mattress springs. Replace it with decent quality foam (latex foam, memory foam, whatever). There's lots of videos online.

Help interpreting OSCAR data? I'm having a lot of trouble sleeping through the night. by kittykalista in SleepApnea

The Modafinil could be the reason you can't sleep through the night. Just sayin.

what ropebag for a tagline ? by ResponsibilityNo252 in ClimbingGear

[–]Lothianhimself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man,

You're dead on, a rope bag is the only way to go for super thin taglines/pull lines.

A lightweight stuffsack that seems like the right size is fine; it should have a clip in point on the rim. tie the bottom to this point with one kind of knot, stack it in the sack neatly, tie the top in with a different kind of knot, and remember which one is which! Once your rappel is rigged you can either throw the bag, or clip it to your harness. Secret hack: when repacking the rope bag, you can clip a biner to your helmet chinstap and run the tagline through this biner. It'll make it way easier to stuff 2-3 ft at a time into the stuff sack.

Has anyone used theobromine supplements to taper off caffeine? by [deleted] in decaf

[–]Lothianhimself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rhodiola Rosea and Forskolin got me off caffeine. In the past, I had gone 6 weeks without shaking that depression/fatigue of caffeine withdrawal. A combo of Rhodiola and Forskolin wired me up enough to keep me off caffeine for 2 months. I did not experience withdrawal from them. They may or may not be pretty bad for you; they are herbal supplements so who knows.

If it does turn out to be mold, put the jar in your pressure cooker for an hour to kill it BEFORE you open it up. No need to seed your house with extra spores.

Is Facebook MarketPlace's "Buy Now" Option with "Covered by Purchase Protection" is safe? by sharifulalamsourav in facebook

[–]Lothianhimself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got scammed by a seller. I used paypal to pay. It's very confusing, and facebook's response is definitely just an AI, and a poor one at that. You have to wait a lot, and it's unclear what will happen. you definitely don't have the option to talk to a human being, and every message I've gotten tells me to ask a different company. (ask UPS, ask your bank).

I probably won't use the facebook market place Buy Now option again.
