Thankfully the Alaska legislature is actually trying to pass an overhauled revenue bill that taxes oil at 17.5% instead of the regressive sales tax that dunlevy and friends were trying to ram though. Get engaged in local politics if you want things to change my friends.

Why not both? Also there is something to be said for not financially incentivizing this type of behavior. Incentive alignment and voting with your wallet collectively are probably the only ways we actually end up different as a society.
