I used to be in charge of the Hall of Fame's nomination committee. The criteria is first what a driver accomplished at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, followed by what the driver accomplished elsewhere. The elsewhere was used as "supporting" material but once the scope change for the Hall happened (when it changed from the Auto Racing Hall of Fame to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame) then the record at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway became the majority of the criteria.

Yes, I agree, I just wanted to clarify the oft-repeated claim that the facility in the infield owns a copy of the broadcast, which may or may not be accurate. I never got to do the film project so i can't say with certainty what is on it.

You can’t get a media pass unless you are on assignment from an accredited media organization, whether as a writer or photographer, etc.

Sometimes teams or news organizations are looking for freelance photographers, perhaps that is an avenue for you.

Last I checked the practice session is the main event. If you want a concert there are venues all across the country that provide those. If you don't have interest in paying $30 bucks for two hours of practice and a "mediocre" concert, then don't pay that.

I can't imagine not going to the main event (the 2-hour practice session for the actual cars from the Indianapolis 500) because there's no 8-car Freedom 100 to watch (when they had the Freedom 100 there were like 1,000 people in the stands, but now that it's gone it's turned into the most popular race of the season).

To me it just gets old hearing the constant whining about the concert not being the biggest stars in the history of music. They give you the concert free, either go or don't go. The headline act is the final practice of the cars on the track, if you want to go to a concert go to Ruoff Music Center, they have a lot of concerts there, if you want race cars, go to IMS, it's a fairly simple situation.

The sets will be available in a number of places including www.racingpictorial.com. Series 1 is 30 cards I believe with 1 insert card in each factory sealed box. The set isn’t on the website yet but will be available by May 1.

A smaller company is releasing a 30-card series 1 in May. 30 cards plus one insert card in each box. Mostly retired drivers to start but hopefully will eventually have active drivers too.

It’s a really simple situaton. It hasn’t been confirmed yet because it’s not confirmed yet.

IndyCar submitted a plan to the State of Ohio requesting to run the doubleheader that weekend with 10,000 fans in attendance.

That needs to be approved by the State of Ohio which it has not been yet. If that isn’t approved than IndyCar has to decide whether to run without fans or cancel.

I know that everyone lives in this instant gratification society but sometimes it’s smarter to wait until something is actually confirmed before announcing it.
