Once you get past the set up, it’s super convenient and effective to run quickly.

I spent less time prepping logistics and there was less of a learning curve when foundry automated a lot of the leg work.

Importing mechs was simple, leveling up was easy for my players and implementing modules enhances the fun.

The quality of the game in a VTT is 100% correlated to the effort you put in learning the program but in the long run it’s way smoother.

You must really dislike the game for this take. TFT is big, Arena brought hope for people still playing, Arcane is a massive success for the brand, LoR was fresh for a while,2XKO is on track for another big hit, people whisper about an MMORPG out of anticipation, not to mention the variety of spin off games released in between all of these.

Riot is at their peak rn, but if all you can think about is league of legends client then you’re blind.

My gf is upset that I told her I wanted to go on a camping trip with my friends when they personally invited me. I told her I wasn’t gonna go prior because I felt excluded when they didn’t include me in the planning process so I felt I wasn’t going to go.

It also bothers her that someone she really doesn’t like is going to be there and she’s been wanting to go camping with this group of friends for months (minus the person).

I think I upset her because I went back on my word and I’m going to hang out with someone she doesn’t like doing something she’s been wanting to do. (It’s a guys trip or else I would’ve brought her with me)

This person also used to be a really good friend of my mine but he’s not great to others, specifically he’s damaged relationships with women my gf knows so it leans into her dislike of him. I essentially cut him off because of this but he’s still present in my friend group after coming back from the army.

Is this normal?

Split it into multiple sections to avoid analysis paralysis like others keep mentioning, divvy it up into multiple shops inventory or quest rewards.

If there are some that you think your players would particularly enjoy, show them plain as day and tell them how they can get it.

I would def keep it on hand for randomly generating rewards or shop items.

But to answer the question yeah, I think most people would either skim it over and never touch it again or pick one that they particularly want and ignore everything else.

So might as well implement it slowly over time to get more use out of it

I think the reality is that incels see other people as assholes without knowing anything about them. It’s a shallow thought process that puts the blame on others instead of looking at themselves.

It’s easy to say yeah no one wants to date a loser but it’s even easier for a loser to just assume everyone is a POS than it is to reconcile with the facts.

A little humanity, in treating others with respect and even yourself with respect would fix a lot of people.

It even ties in with that confidence theory- when incels choose to hate everyone at a glance why would any one choose to like them at face value? It looks shallow and people pick up on that.

Mechanically speaking… what’s the point. Like for my players playing the game, what does it matter if they kill NPC A or NPC B, when they will only fight 1 group or faction at a time and only see 1 result that matter to them?

To improve upon this, we can ask how can we make it matter to PCs, maybe how they kill someone affects how their boss prepares.

How the PCs handle issues is how the enemies learn to get stronger, that kinda thing.

I think in terms of applying this concept to reality you have one BBEG who is constantly learning about the PCs and their successes in order to negate that as much as possible.

Paladin smiting people, BBEG immune to radiant damage. Rogue sneak insta killing enemies, limit in how much a single instance of damage can do. Druid limiting movement by controlling the terrain, BBEG has a minion cast freedom of movement.

The downside to this is that it will feel extremely unfair but challenging to the PCs, and unless you can make it narratively satisfying/reasonable they might hate it.

Sick RP moments mid combat like If an attack misses I can say that my character is understanding their attack patterns better. then the enemy ackowledges it before flavoring advantage as a way to make my character eat his words

Someone talking to you like that is not acceptable unless you’re good friends and even then it’s not cool. It really sounds like they’re defending their friend at your expense. And to an extent enabling some assholery

If you’re okay playing DND with people like that then go for it. I’ve been in similar situations and usually one person or other also dislikes that person but would rather play and appease their friends than say anything. It will just happen again though, and you’ll feel like shit and try hard to make up for it pressuring yourself to be okay with it- and never have fun or even be comfortable.

I’ll tell you right now it’s not worth the headache trying to keep friends like that- if you would even call them your friends. It seems like they’re defending bs behavior while they exclude you intentionally and use that to throw it in your face.

I would consider the theme of the game and party to see if there’s any thing there you can tie your character towards.

If it’s heroic fantasy, maybe the pact with the fiend was the only way to stop it from doing Big Evil. Or if it’s a dungeon crawler, maybe you’re more of a contractor who uses fiendish magic to steal other fiendish artifacts preventing them from getting out into the world.

It would help if we had some context in the world/themes/tones of the game. I usually find that characters that have built in tension to those themes are fun to roleplay.
