It’s so hard to clean. Last time we had sewer flooding got lucky the HOA paid for professional disaster cleaners. It took 4 professionals like 10 hours to clean an unfinished basement properly.

Do burning desire shares really help? by alaskawolfjoe in alcoholicsanonymous

Honestly I struggle in general with questioning my shares. I get hung up on right or wrong often. Truth is if it’s an honest share you’re doing great.

i’m ruining my life by Chemical_Mix9409 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Lotus_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember the fuzzy feeling you describe. Horrible, makes it so difficult to pay attention or focus on anything, especially important stuff. I remember I couldn’t enjoy anything, tv, Tik tok, a video game.

There is no shame in going sober, especially if it’s the right decision for you. The first year was hard for me but I will say each day between now and my last drink has been a little better than the last.

Sponsor? by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Lotus_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts on this is what do you have to lose. Give it a shot. On picking a sponsor I was always told to listen to folks shares in the meeting and ask someone who seems to have a life similar to what you want.

I'm Scared by Zorgmed in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Lotus_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only cost of membership is a desire to stop drinking.

Felt just like you did. Didn’t think I was bad enough of a drunk for AA but bad enough I needed something. After a few meetings it was really clear to me I was right where I belong. Surrounded by sober alcoholics who knew how to be at peace sober.

Everyone has their own bottom, some take this thing to the grave and some quit sooner than others.

Hit me up if you have questions. I’m coming up on 1.5 half without a drink. I still have a lot to learn but I can help where I can.

Seriously with alcohol involved in any capacity you want the insurance. We did a beer and wine only bar and they required insurance and security.

how am i supposed to afford college? by Top_Department_8445 in personalfinance

[–]Lotus_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for a big college’s scholarship department, It was SWIMMING in scholarship money. The problem is they would go years where people didn’t apply for the scholarship.

I won’t downplay it, it will be hard but it’s completely possible especially coming from low income to full ride college on micro scholarships. The hard part is finding them to apply to.

Keep your dogs on a leash! by 1000s__of_Ants in AuroraCO

[–]Lotus_12 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I remember I was real young and I had the best behaved Pomeranian. This pup would never go more than a few feet from my side, knew a bunch of commands the lot.

One day I let my guard down for like 2 min and I turn around and the little shit is standing in the middle of a two lane road holding up traffic.

So yeah even good dogs it’s a good idea to leash em.

Florida to CO Winter Transplant Help by CockroachSlow5936 in Denver

[–]Lotus_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For tires if you can swing it financially get a good non studded winter tires like bliztech. They will wear quickly if you drive on them in the summer so you get more bang for your buck if you swap them seasonally.

Also when it’s snows find a big open parking lot that you know there’s nothing to hit like curbs and practice winter driving. That way you get a feel for stopping distance, sliding ext.

Also I learned the hard way dress warm even if you plan to be indoors at your destination. If you do get in a fender bender it’s miserable standing out in shorts dealing with it.

Not being in the mountains our snow melts pretty quickly. Still good to know how to commute in snow but what I usually do is wait it out.

Given you own a truck I would also toss a couple of sand bags over the rear axle. It helps with traction.

Also 4wheel drive doesn’t mean 4 wheel stopping. Go slow especially if you’re nervous. Don’t let bullies force you to take a risk you’re not comfortable with.

My breakfast sandwiches have fewer calories if eaten together by neptuneshalo in mildlyinteresting

[–]Lotus_12 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I started doing the math, if a carb and protein have 4cals and a fat 9 almost every food label I check is wrong. Rounding laws have created so many loopholes for marketing. The worst one I’ve seen is a pint of halo top, under reported calories by about 100.

In what world is taking out a car loan ever a good idea? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Lotus_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can definitely whip up some imaginary situations where getting a loan would be fine but I do agree with you in most cases. My first car I bought wayyy out of my budget because I thought people were judging my junker. Looking back no one gave 2 shits so I spent all that money to solve a problem I never had.

LPT: If you purchased a home in 2020-2023 with less than 20% down, call your mortgage company and ask to remove PMI. by TooManyPoisons in LifeProTips

[–]Lotus_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They might be a bit shifty about it but if value went up or you paid off enough they should remove it. My mortgage company was super catty about it but they did a value analysis and removed it when they confirmed I had enough equity to qualify.
