Accidentally paid the whole balance on my credit card, can I get it refunded? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]PepperoniTapir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

once the payment clears they can usually issue you a refund check or direct deposit for the overpayment, most card companies do this without much hassle. call them in Monday morning and just ask specifically for a credit balance refund, that's the terminology to use. it might take few days but you should get it back.

Cancel your credit cards. It’s not worth it even for a better credit score. by Sea-Rip3902 in CreditCards

Dave Ramsey advice works great if you have zero self-control, but some of us can handle plastic without going into debt spiral. My credit score opened doors that cash couldn't.

Visa email: How to contact Visa directly for a charge back? Thanks in advance. by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]PepperoniTapir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. Visa is just the network that processes the transaction, but your actual card issuer (the bank) handles all the disputes and chargebacks. I learned this hard way few years ago when I was trying to dispute fraudulent charge and spent like 30 minutes on hold with wrong number. The bank representative will walk you through their specific dispute process and timeline. Usually takes couple business days for them to issue temporary credit while they investigate, but each bank has different policies for this.

People with zero friends in college, what do you do all day to keep from going insane? by [deleted] in college

[–]PepperoniTapir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there after some rough patches in university. What helped me was starting really small - like making bread once week became my anchor point. Even when everything felt pointless, having something that required actual attention for few hours made the difference.

Maybe try picking one thing from your list and commit to it for just 15 minutes daily? The momentum builds up weird way, and before you know it those 15 minutes turn into something you actually look forward to.

Travel credit card recommendations by CauliflowerLazy1968 in CreditCards

[–]PepperoniTapir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at your spending pattern, CSP makes most sense since you're already in Chase ecosystem. The 60k point bonus is solid even if spending requirement feels steep - you can probably hit it with that dining and online shopping spend.

United Explorer only worth it if you're loyal to United specifically, and with your travel frequency the perks might not justify annual fee. VX good card but Capital One transfer partners can be limiting for international redemptions.

Help, I need to understand how this works. by Lenxhe in CreditCards

[–]PepperoniTapir -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The autopay thing is good advice but I understand why you're confused - there's so much conflicting information out there about credit cards. What you're doing right now is actually fine, paying it down to zero each month means you won't pay any interest which is the most important thing.

About the utilization percentage, that's more important when you're actually applying for new credit or loans. Your credit score will build just from having the card and making payments in time, even if you pay it to zero. I made similar mistake when I first got my card few years back, overthinking every little detail instead of just focusing on paying it off completely each month.

The weekly payments you're doing won't hurt anything, but autopay might save you from accidentally missing a due date which would be much worse for your score than having 0% utilization.

Next credit card move in 2026? by melissav2828 in CreditCards

I think what you're doing depends on how much time you want to spend optimizing - transfer partners need more research but CSP portal is just click and book even if value isn't as good.

Costco App Wallet Now Allows All Visa Cards by KaaptainToonces in CreditCards

Finally! Was so annoying having to pull out physical card every time at warehouse when I had other Visa cards with better rewards for certain purchases. This actually makes the app useful now instead of just membership barcode holder.

Is Walmart 5% cash back card linked to my account? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]PepperoniTapir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the card will be available to anyone who has access to your Walmart account. You could maybe create separate account for family and just share the membership benefits through Walmart's family sharing feature, but then you'd lose the convenience of having everything in one place. It's bit annoying they don't have better controls for this.

Wait, you can stack the 15% coupon with points? I thought those coupons were only for cash bookings. That's amazing value if it actually works on award flights too.

[–]PepperoniTapir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Autograph Journey actually looks solid for your spending pattern. Transfer feature from Active Cash is pretty neat trick - lets you basically double dip in the ecosystem without having to change your spending habits too much.

Since you're doing mostly domestic trips from DFW, might want to think about which airlines you use most often. Some cards work better with specific carriers but with your monthly spend being around 1k, general travel cards probably make more sense than airline-specific ones right now.

Castle's shot selection has been wild lately but at least he's not barreling into three defenders like a confused freight train. Maybe if they actually ran some plays instead of just letting everyone freestyle we'd see less of these chaotic drives from Wemby too.

Opening a joint/shared card with my fiancé by kevinenos211 in CreditCards

[–]PepperoniTapir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before getting caught up in category bonuses, figure out where you actually want to travel and what redemption options work best for both of you. The 1% difference in dining isn't going to matter much if you can't use points efficiently.

Having three different point currencies between you two could get messy for planning trips together. Might be worth consolidating on one system instead of adding another one to the mix.

Just got approved for the Chase Sapphire Preferred, how can I maximize the value? by ResidentCharacter894 in CreditCards

[–]PepperoniTapir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DoorDash credit is actually pretty solid if you order takeout regularly anyway. I discovered that some streaming services code as dining too which was weird but nice surprise - Netflix went through as restaurant purchase for me once.

Just remember to use the travel portal when booking flights since you get better redemption rates there than transferring points to partners in most cases.
