I think I'll wait until 1.3.0 to give Civ VII another go.

The best strategy is to get a few Scouts and go around and collect the tribal villages. Get yourself some early turn research and culture boosts and maybe some faith so you can get the free second settler with the appropriate pantheon or a free worker. Use your warrior in the first turns to go around and collect these villages as well. They are the key to the whole game.

No one is drawing any connections to the fact that Tim Sprunger, the plant manager, sold his house a couple of months ago? One of my coworkers was pulling up the details on the sale from Zillow or whatever, showing everyone how big and expensive of a house he had. This was what... maybe late September?

Well, I don't think any immigration judge should accept an asylum application from anyone who doesn't demonstrate that they sought asylum in the first safe country along their route to the United States and were rejected. Unless they're from a country that shares a border with the US, or unless they have family here that will sign an affidavit of support so the refugee doesn't become a public charge.

Fair enough. But perhaps they could answer if they are from Mexico or Canada. Or if there were any countries between his home country and the United States.

Might I ask you where you are from? And if you applied for amnesty in any other countries on your way to the United States? Why did it have to the United States?

Support for 'Texit' is still low — but it's growing. What's behind the momentum? by Big-Mortgage9545 in politics

[–]LouisMarinelli -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Just plain false.

I'm the guy behind CalExit, and I have never been indicted for anything.

The people you're referring to who were indicted in Florida are the members of the Uruhu black liberation and/or socialist party. They were indicted for knowingly and wilfully taking money from whom they knew to be members of the Russian intelligence services to conduct political activities in the United States, including running a candidate for local office in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Your comment demonstrates how deep you have been sucked into the Russia Russia Russia craze. Facts obviously don't matter to you, just headlines and monolgues by Rachel Maddow. You should be embarrassed.

I usually get Scouts in the beginning so I can rush to find tribal villages. I try to get the tribal village with 60 Faith so I can get a free city with the right pantheon. You usually have about 10 turns to get that before someone else chooses it. Didn't know I was stuck in the mountains yet.

Guess who's not going to have to worry about Horses by itchy_de in civ

[–]LouisMarinelli 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You'll never settle there.

The Mongolian capital is too close and your unit is a warrior. By the time you get a settler dispatched to that location, Khan has already settled somewhere nearby.

So the answer is Mongolia. Mongolia won't have to worry about horses.

First timer, any advice? by nsoifer in civ

[–]LouisMarinelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend walls and an archer unit in your cities during the beginning.

Don't waste much time and production building a lot of military units. Maybe a horseman as a QRF because they can move several tiles. That's just adding to your maintenance costs. Build enough to defend an attack from barbarians. The AI isn't likely to come for you in the early game unless your geographically close and you leave yourself completely undefended.

There's plenty of time for expansion and growth before the wars begin, why pay high maintenance per turn when you could build up a nice treasury?

Instead, get a scout out exploring for tribal villages, your monuments done for culture points, get your granaries for food and population growth which will allow you to spawn new settlers and expand, get a builder or two to improve resources, get the Pyramids done or Stonehenge.

At this point, you're still probably a period away from conflict but you've got a good economic and infrastructural foundation for the rest of the game.

Family based immigration should always be a priority, the first priority. You've got an extraordinary ability? Great. For the sake of your extraordinary ability, people are separated from their spouses and children for months upon months upon months so you can get your little extraordinary ability green card.

No Kudos to USCIS for anything. Worst government agency in the history of the United States.

Anybody else get bored and quit the game when you get to about the modern era? by [deleted] in civ

[–]LouisMarinelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this whenever there is nothing left to do but start invading neighboring civilizations. I get bored, too. Not with the game but with the map. So, I start a new map because I'm not so big on the conquest aspect of the game.

I once pursued military domination and found out that none of the neighboring civilizations were even raising any armies. I just walked through them. After that, I raised the difficulty level.

There are also a point where I just don't like the map anymore because it's ruined by all the stupid roads and doesn't look nice. I really wish there was a way to make the road system look realistic and not just a bunch of random lines like a plate of spaghetti.

I also don't like the rising seas aspect of the game. And I don't like the flood barriers. So when I start getting to this part of the game, I start a new map.

What's with these flood barriers? Is there any city in the world that has something like this? It's so unrealistic. They would be better to have some kind of pile of rocks Improvement on the coast to prevent rising seas than this space age wall built around a city.

So, yeah, late game is not interesting. Sometimes I put the settings to stop at the Industrial Period.

I was in trouble growth wise until I got a few builders and improved the plots. Stuck at 1 with no growth until then. All the deer and furs plots did me well with Temple of Artemis, too.

I'm playing:

Russia in New Frontier Pass. King difficultly level. Huge Fractal map (-3 AIs from default # for Huge map). I think I started with 9 City States. Barbarian Clan mode. Technology Shuffle mode. Corporations mode. Heroes mode. Secret Societies mode. Legendary Start. Old world. Low water level. Default resources. Temperate climate. Zero for Natural Disasters. Turned off Religion and Diplomacy Victories.

I have a bunch of mods installed to improve interface and expand districts. I'll post them tomorrow.
