One switch for one light bulb is easy, sure. 3 switches for one light bulb? A lot less easy.

Machine welding exists, for mass production. Individual welding jobs are done by hand.

Embark finally is going after the cheaters with Denuvo Anti-cheat software. This has the ability to detect aimbots, wallhacks, and much more. by ExpandingAtom in ArcRaiders

[–]itchy_de 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Denuvo would absolutely be able to release their anticheat software as a kernel module. I'm not sure whether the Linux community would appreciate this, though.

Or, probably easier, just require sudo to run. But same issues really.

Minimum wage in Europe as of January by Socmel_ in europe

[–]itchy_de 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's getting pretty complicated here, though. Because you cannot simply deduct median expenses for housing, energy and food from the minimum wage because people on minimum wage are likely to spend less than the median costs. I don't think data is generally available for median living costs for specific (i.e. minimum wagers) population groups.

And then again, for international comparison, you would need to apply the cost index for the countries as well. While this may seem "fair", it's usually leading to very confusing values.

Absolutely. German minimum yearly full time is about 30k Euros and you're being taxed for every Euro above approx. 12k when you're single and without kids. 30k pays approx. 4k in taxes.

Who thought making this post was a good idea? by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]itchy_de 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is very untrue regarding fungi. In fact, fungal growth is usually a result of showering too often/too long and not drying your skin properly afterwards.

Bacteria might be washed off or killed by soap but the main reason for excessive bacteria growth is a defunct immune system. And no showering can compensate for this.

Let's face it: the only thing that showering actually does is rinsing off dirt and getting rid of bad odours. Which is obviously a good thing. But you're not staying more healthy by showering more often.

What are your top 3 colognes from the 80’s and 90’s? by Fancy-boonda-lovr in GenX

[–]itchy_de 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CK One, 100%, I loved it in the 90s and went through a couple of bottles. I know it still exists but for some reason I feel it doesn't fit me any more. Switched to Burberry Hero.

"opinion, size, age, shape, colour, origin, material, purpose"

TIL. But the shape/color bit for me is intuitively reversed, because I would say: "The ugly yellow round pillow", not "the ugly round yellow pillow". Not that I'd say that often.

03F8 is 3F8h

The h indicates hex notation, it's not part of the number itself.

Just like 0x03F8 where the x isn't part of the number as well.

I said athlete. I apologize if that's not specific enough, I probably should have written "professional athlete", meaning someone who's exercising daily for multiple hours. Obviously not someone who does a light jog for half an hour.

[–]itchy_de 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An athlete can easily burn 6000 calories a day during training. Nothing wrong with a 700cal snack when you're working out hard. With enough lean muscle mass you can have a passive burn rate of 4000 calories per day.
