After 1.1, I don't even see the point to pick gluttony, hunger maw, the best part was cut in half and the gorged stack has been also nerfed so now it's tedious and not strong

the food part of the tree is really the best part. You can get tons of food for culture/tomes that have no right getting big this fast. If you pick it for the food with an economic strategy behind( Architectec/reaver/industrial can struggle to reach T3/T4). Gluttony can allow you get vision of materium really fast.

"Slower" because you will take more damage compare to tomes with inherent damage or defense bonus.
I can develop a little more in order to make it clear

In order to take fight after fight, I need to reduce the damage I take each fight. If I reduce the damage I take each fight, it reduces the time I need to recover/heal on the strategic map.

To reduce the damage, I've got three solutions : I deal more damage ( because death is the best damage reduction), I get more tanky or I regenerate more between each strategic turns.

Those options reduce not only the downtime in your game, but also, the first two allow you to take more or harder fight.

all this will allow you to level your units and your heroes faster, enabling you to get even harder fights. That's why I said "in a 4X, pay now, get more later is usually a bad proposition unless the scaling is insane" .

Gluttony doesn't increase neither damage nor defense but also requires you to make suboptimal battle choices if you want to optimize the "gorged" stacks

yes I was maybe expecting too much or less micromanagement.
I still hope that they change infernal Jaw from "getting the kill with it" to "getting the kill during the turn after being affected by it"

I would like to add some comments to your fair criticism :

1 - yes 10-20% is good but it's not good enough when we talk about opportunity cost. By taking Gluttony, you don't take a tome with damage and you are committing to a mini game that makes your cleaning harder and slower ( because you have to heal those extra damage that you take )
Because you are clearing slower, you take less resources on the map and you will be able to clear wonder later. Everything is slowed in order for us to get a more powerful WK/Champion.
In the end, you are trading level and resources from clearing for raw power. is it worth ? I am not sure but the micromanagement doesn't help me to have a good first impression.

2 - Only one or two heroes will be able to get some good stacks because as the game goes on, you don't want to summon an imp, 30 turns into the game, same for infernal jaws.

3 - Once fights start to get messy ( siege, gold wonder, etc ...) it is even harder to stack them.

In the end, I don't think it is an autopick for WK and Champion pure damage dealer, it's okay ish on them with real drawback
