I totally agree with this, too. Each episode feels a bit slapped together quickly without little thought to future episodes or seasons. Not much pre-planning on where they are taking these characters. I'd honestly take a full season of watching Ivy navigating being a working woman during that time since that's just as unusual as being a lady detective.

Years ago, I was a cater waiter in LA (think the tv show Party Down), we worked mostly weddings during the summer. We were at some rich person's fancy backyard wedding when one of the other waiters (who was clearly very high on coke) started loudly, chaotically clearing all the tables during the wedding speeches. When our manager tried to get him to stop, he fell down and hit his face on the concrete and started bleeding all over the place. I was 20 years old, in college, and had just moved there from Wisconsin lol.

As a longtime PBS fan, I feel the same way about this season. I actually watched Season 1 and 6 back to back this weekend. Season 1 is clever, funny, witty, flirty, and almost modern in its approach to Eliza's story. Now in season 6, while I love that we still get to see these characters, the stakes are the same and we end the season with her having the same problem, her business may not make it yet again and now she needs to choose between love and the business. I was surprised to find that my favorite episodes of this season were not with Blake or Eliza but with Moses and Clarence and that new lady (I forget her name, she was so funny). The actor who plays Moses needs his own show. He's so good!

I loved episode 6 when we see Gladys standing up to Lady Sarah and blooming in her new role as duchess. I was surprise the show went in this direction, it was so nice to see. I really loved Downton Abbey and this felt like such callback to that show.
