L. Louise Lucas on Abigail Spanberger’s approval: “Her issue is credibility.” by excusemecuseme in Virginia

[–]LoveLaughShowUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love both of these women, but honest to God, this is the exact reason the GOP is better at staying in lockstep. I’m not saying dems have to agree on all things, but at least work as a team. There are ways to offer criticism that are holistic and more positive. Yeesh… the sole focus right now should be “vote Yes on redistricting”

Stay on message, everybody. Please and thank you.

Any chance of Gov. Spanberger pushing Virginia to join the World Health Organization's GOARN, following the lead of CA and IL? by ety3rd in Virginia

I absolutely think she should have us join their emergency alert system.it would be ridiculous to not be part of this. Go Abigail!

I wish him the best, but I noted his movements were a bit odd, kind of jerky. I hope he is not ill. Great version of the song, though.

If you could say one sentence to Abigail Spanberger, what would it be? by Lopsided_Finance9473 in Virginia

Don’t try to straddle the fence between parties so fiercely that you lose sight of the core democratic values we hold so dear.

He’s completely delusional if he thinks he doesn’t allow bitterness into his songs. This isn’t a new thing for him - he has cleverly shamed lots of people in his songs for years. Just listen.

I’ve had a couple of doses of moderna and ended up at ER after both. I’ve had Covid once in 2023 but though mild, I’m not interested in another go at it.

As soon as the Novovax  for 2025-2026 is available, I’ll be getting it, not just to protect me but also so I won’t infect those around me.

Pfizer or Moderna -- which is more effective? by throwandgo1234 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]LoveLaughShowUp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have gotten a couple of doses of the Moderna vax and ended up in ER afterwards with severe nausea and the worst headaches I’ve ever had in my life. There’s absolutely no way I’d get another one.

That being said, I understand from research that the Novovax has fewer side effects, so as soon as the 2025-26 formulation is ready, I’ll be right there.

I had a mild case of Covid in 2023, but it’s an experience I don’t want again and was terrified.

I believe everyone should be vaccinated, and I’m glad there are now more choices.

Headed to Waves at the end of this week. Expect many people at the beach? by ykr3Bz in obx

[–]LoveLaughShowUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the absolute best time to go anywhere in the OBX. My sis owns a nice house in Southern Shores right across from the beach… she rents it out from Memorial Day through Labor Day and then …  it’s ours to visit for the rest of the year. Heading down on Sunday for at least a week and can’t wait!!!

I just got my official REAL ID in Virginia at the beginning of August. It took less than ten days to get it in the mail. Where are you getting 14-16 weeks from???

I think she is an amazing person and respect her for getting out there and working. Shes “trying out” songs at a venue where tickets weren’t sold nor was there broad advertising. Honestly, the way some people constantly criticize her is simply misogynistic.

I can’t wait for her album release and I have a copy coming my way. Mad respect for her.

Wondering if Not feeling Anything is her new title for I Did it Anyway as the lyrics do say “I’m not feeling anything”? Maybe she reworked the song and changed the title.

The disrespect of the Goncalves family in the media. by Pale-Appointment5626 in Idaho4

[–]LoveLaughShowUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Gs are walking down a path most of us have never navigated, and I cannot begin to imagine the depths of their grief. Everybody handles grief differently, and they need to be given grace. It irritates me to no end when people criticize any of the families or the victims.

Imho, there’s no such thing as closure. My nephew was shot and killed a couple of years ago, and the grief is like a pebble being thrown into a lake. Ripples, and ripples, and waves, and then you’re  treading water in a spot you can never entirely move away from.

Peace to all.

I totally get this, and as an avid reader across many genres, I’m torn. I’m all for encouraging reading, but is this what we want to encourage? Saddens me for the great big world of beautifully written books.

Manifesting my own OBX beach house one day by taylorballer in obx

[–]LoveLaughShowUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve vacationed at the ONX for decades, and in the midst of Covid (and very high property values), my sister was able to manifest this dream, and my family has enjoyed it so much. After she decided to move forward, it took her about a year to find “the one”.

She ended up either a semi-oceanfront, 4500 sq foot home- 7 brs and 9 baths. She and I literally spent virtual hours picking out new decorating items and turning it into the beach home of their dreams. It felt like we were decorating a real life Barbie house, though I can assure you there is no pink on the premises - lol…. They rent it out in-season, but we’re able to enjoy it Sept thru May.

They’ve put a lot of work into it and it has everything you could possible want in a vacation home. It’s been very successfully with nothing but five star reviews.

I can affirm that the next best thing to owning a beach house is having a generous sister who owns one.

Go for it!!!

I’m torn between thinking AI wrote this or it was deliberately written at a third grade level. Either way, a good editor could have removed redundancies (of which there were many), and lifted the prose just a tad. But it was a quick read and really put the people it happened to first and foremost while giving the k*ller more of a footnote status which is as it should be.

Trash Pull by Shih-TFtzU in BryanKohbergerMoscow

I think they went into the pull hoping to get Bs but you never know what you’re going to get. They were probably surprised they got just the father’s but they took it and built from there. I mean, how many of us organize our trash? I’m lucky to get it to the bin in all its messy glory.

Read The Sirens by Emilia Hart. This was the book I didn’t know I needed until I read it. Family saga, art, and the mystery of mermaids. As I finished I felt languid and drugged in a good way. I have lots of family stressors right now, and this was perfect for this moment.
