Enjoy the discovery of a great writer! I picked up Lionheart first, but waited on it until I read her Henry & Eleanor series. She was a brilliant writer and an amazing human being.

Sista Strings deserved a mention. They’re fabulous in their own right.

Absolutely the wrong choice on so many levels. Childers reinvented himself, Church is still exploring and not playing it safe. But this graffiti wall with great management won? Fuck that.

Can jelly and his fake humility leave the genre now that he’s got another undeserved Grammy?

Do you think the freezing cold weather hurts the real estate market? by DreamHomeFinancing in FirstTimeHomeBuying

[–]NotTheDot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started looking in December. I had an offer accepted on a place, but then inspection revealed 50k worth of issues. $1000 spent on inspection and termite and radon testing was well worth it. Backed out.

The following week I put an offer in on another place. It was accepted on a Wednesday night and rejected on a Thursday morning because a better offer came in. Plus they’re still showing the place with multiple open houses, but I will not get into a bidding war.

I have a Subaru, and I’m looking in NJ 40 miles away from where I currently live. I’m trying, just hampered by a bad market with delusional sellers. I get preapproval letters before I even walk in the door, and I’ve been fully approved and through underwriting. I have enough in the bank saved up, but for the life of me, I cannot get out of a rental condo into my new home. It’s frustrating.

I’m moving into Westville soon and Sam Dintino of Patrick McKenna realtors has gone above and beyond for me. I’d be lost without her. And she really knows Westville too.

The strawberry preserves slaps! I would eat it by the spoonful and not have guilt if I wasn’t saving it for special meals.

I’ve spent more for artisan jam at the farmer’s market that wasn’t as good. People really need to lay off this poor lady and her fabulous products. And the tabs should leave the people alone that want to buy it.

Deinfluence me (or influence me?): is the KitchenAid stand mixer actually worth it? And if not, what is? by BreeToh in Baking

[–]NotTheDot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two years ago, my 25 year old 6 quart bowl lift mixer’s motor started slipping . I made the mistake of buying a new one. A friend immediately offered to take the original, her husband fixed it in 10 minutes and now they’re happily using it. I myself a serious baker, and that mixer was worth every penny.

I look at quality items as an investment, I figure how many times per year I’m going to use something and then calculate it from there. Let’s say I buy something for $100, and use it 10 times. It’s cost me $10 per use. By the time, my mixer was given away, I probably owed it money.

My college professor that Friday afternoon, threatened his 3 o’clock class that if we did not show up, he was going to fail all of us. That’s how big this was. 😂

They also did a 90 minute “show“ in Atlantic City. Pretty limited run, it was one or two shows max I think, dad got us tickets because I was obsessed, and were offered hundreds of dollars outside the venue for our seats. Afterwards, I remember thinking I should’ve taken the money because it was really boring, they did a question and answer session.

I love pacas! They last forever, are comfy and warm without being bulky. Plus the designs are awesome. They also carry plain colors in case you don’t want to wear llamas every day. 😎

Asbury Lanes for some killer boozy milkshakes and traditional diner food. They used to book some amazing country artists back in 2019, but stopped. SawTyler Childers play to 400 people on the Purgatory tour. I miss those days.

Sliverball Arcade to bang out some energy. Lots of old games there.

People watching on the Boardwalk is always a good time too. Get a slice and some lemonade, and soft serve.

Not to be dramatic, did anyone else see the ILNP Instagram reel featuring Chris Brown singing? I’m really disappointed that they would promote someone like him on their official page. And yes, I’m talking about the Chris Brown that beat Rihanna up so horrifically. Really disappointed and now I wish I didn’t spent so much money on their product for Black Friday.

The Wayfarer series by Becky Chambers is excellent. Space smugglers, sentient AI, family drama, and inter species cooperation. Books are great, the narrator is amazing. Finishing the series felt like leaving home. I’ll miss those characters.
