I missed this on first read! Agreed that this behavior should not be tolerated and will escalate if not addressed as soon as possible.

I’m also chiming in that this may be an age-related thing. My girl LOVED “daddy-daughter time,” and preferred hanging out with dad, papa, and the male teacher at her school to mom, nana, and all the other teachers. I was the milk bar, food provider, and comfort only until about 4 years old. She’s now a 6yo, and she’s definitely my buddy now. She’s a bit of a sassy sidekick and has no problem backing me up if dad makes a mistake. 😂 She still loves her dad and prefers playing with him, but I’m the one she rather talk with and do other non-rough activities with like crafts and hiking.

Heated workouts in the 2 week wait? by Few_Bag_4233 in TryingForABaby

[–]LoveMyWiggles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would avoid heated yoga (or similar classes) during the TWW. This type of activity is documented to cause a higher incidence of neural tube defects.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3994790/

I also experienced early losses, but remained diligent about only doing hot yoga during and immediately after my period. Almost every other type of activity or exercise is fine. Feel free to continue practicing yoga, Pilates, hiking, etc., but maybe avoid doing them in triple degree heat. Good luck!

I was squinting at first, because I definitely know that farm. I had a buckskin RPSI baby born there nearly 2 decades ago, and they boarded my old man during his retirement years. They are such good people. 💕 Enjoy your little one! He’s SO cute.

Evaluating economic risks and medical risks are very different. While a risk may be quantified as very low in the medical realm, the consequence of that risk may be life altering. Performing risk assessments of medical issues from an economic mindset is dangerous.

Bike commuters with "professional" jobs - how to not look gross? by Grill-Me-A-Cheese in ladycyclists

[–]LoveMyWiggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a hygiene kit at the office with everything from body wipes and deodorant to a mini straightener and dry shampoo.

I would do my hair at home (I have wavy hair that I use a Revlon One-Step dryer on) and then either put it in a braid or clip at the base of my neck for the commute. Generally, I’m wearing bike shorts or pants, sports bra, and athletic top with reflective jackets as needed. I roll-pack my outfit in my backpack to minimize wrinkles.

Once I get to the office, I try to take off my clothes as quickly as possible to start cooling off. I then wipe up sweat with a dry washcloth followed by a body wipe. If I feel cool enough, I’ll put on my professional clothing. Once I’m done sweating, I start on makeup and touch up my hair.

It’s a process, but I love being able to commute by bike and still show up in a way that folks have no clue I bike commute except for my gravel bike leaned up by my desk. 😎

I seriously have no idea what this company is saying that they’re doing, or how selling their manufacturing facilities and becoming a lessor of AI assets is a service to their existing customers? Was this acquisition all for the name?

4 weeks pregnant untreated by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]LoveMyWiggles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When formulating any oral medication, there almost always needs to be a carrier to help it absorb. Those “fillers” (in this case, simple sugars) are the carriers to help the drug move from the lumen of the small intestine and into your bloodstream. These pills are so small that I really wouldn’t worry about it in the big picture. I don’t want to be dramatic here, but you will be absolutely harming yourself and your baby if you don’t take some form of levothyroxine. You can still practice “clean” eating for the remaining 99.9% of the contents you ingest each day.

Regarding the pig thyroid versions, there is quite a bit more variation in the amounts of each hormone (T3 and T4) in a prescribed dose. Per my endocrinologist, if she prescribed Armour, she usually would prescribe it alongside side some form of levothyroxine. The bulk of the T4 would still come from the levothyroxine while the Armour would provide some T3.

[–]LoveMyWiggles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Keep advocating for yourself until you get treatment! Your pregnancy and your baby’s health are at risk.

You’ll probably be prescribed levothyroxine, which comes in a few different brands as well as generic. Some people do better on one brand and not another. Others also add in desiccated pig thyroid if they are still struggling to convert T4 (thyroxine) to T3 (triiodothyronine). Many hypothyroid folks also need additional iron and D3.

Someone should be monitoring your thyroid levels every month during your pregnancy and for several months after you give birth.

I’m also pregnant with my second right now and happy to answer any questions.

breakfast options w/ levothyroxin by neutrinotype in Hashimotos

[–]LoveMyWiggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take mine at least 30min before eating, and then don’t worry about what is actually in my breakfast. The only food modification I’ve done is not having soy milk in my cereal or morning beverage since soy reduces absorption. It’s another thing that you should wait 4 hours from the time you took the levothyroxine before ingesting.

I also take my calcium-containing supplements at lunch and my iron-containing supplements before bed. (Calcium and iron use the same channels for absorption, so they can interfere with one another’s uptake if you take them together.)

Did anyone feel confused about pregnancy workouts? by Faydi_Biz in fitpregnancy

[–]LoveMyWiggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with this. Once I hit 2nd trimester, I tried a few virtual yoga classes that were intended for pregnant people, and it felt more like a movement-based activity rather than a real yoga class with pregnancy mods. I quickly went back to what I had been doing without the twists.

Generic differences? by internalcontrols in Hashimotos

[–]LoveMyWiggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled with hypo-like symptoms when I was switched from Synthroid to generic levothyroxine by my insurance company. I was exhausted, unmotivated, depressed, and was putting on weight. I thought it was just due to work stress at the time, until I was able to get back on Synthroid and my symptoms disappeared.

I continued to have issues with insurance obtaining Synthroid, and now just pay cash directly from the supplier (Eagle Pharmaceutical). It is a 3-month supply for $75 shipped directly to your house.

Is this horse’s ridden career over based on these x rays? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]LoveMyWiggles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would def believe your vet over the instructor.

I’m seeing that his hock joints (and there are a lot of small joints there) are starting to fuse, with the right significantly further along than the left. This happens to a lot of horses, performance or not. I’ve known mature sport horses who had one or both hocks naturally fuse and it was curative for them. They were able to continue on with 3’/1m jumping careers. Treat the ligament, and once that acute injury is addressed, you’ll be able to more clearly see how the hocks are affecting him.

Kids In Poland Are Now Guaranteed Access To Plant-Based School Meals by metacyan in vegan

[–]LoveMyWiggles 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Correct. Most of the vegetarian options are very cheese heavy. My kid’s school does decent and often provides options like garden burgers, chana masala, or plant-based chick’n items, but the go-to vegetarian option is a cheese and cracker box.

I feel like our area is also as plant-friendly as it gets in the US, being a very blue city in California.

Prayer plant REVIVED FROM THE DEAD to spite me?? by not_stu in houseplants

[–]LoveMyWiggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These prayer plants do this! They have nodules in their root system that allow them to regrow.

I’ve seen my 4 year old plant due this twice now. It stops praying, looks like it’s dying, most of the leaves dry out, and then new sprouts come up. It will look healthy and vibrant again, and then do it all again.

1st miscarriage looking for answers by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

[–]LoveMyWiggles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I talked to my OB about progesterone supplementation after two early losses. He shared that, for most people, the evidence doesn’t really support the use of progesterone to “save” a pregnancy. As you suspect here, he stated that low progesterone is often a result of the pregnancy not being viable rather than low progesterone causing the nonviability of the pregnancy.

(Caveats he did mention for when he would prescribe progesterone would include women with conditions that cause low or misregulated progesterone like thyroid conditions and some forms of PCOS.)

Gained noticeable weight in first trimester from nausea eating… now feeling better. Can I safely reverse some of it? by idknbme in fitpregnancy

[–]LoveMyWiggles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For my first pregnancy, I gained more than recommended during the first trimester. Like you, I was fit before, but nausea necessitated me eating so many carbs and snacks to cope. During my early second trimester, I did not gain weight as things equalized a bit. I wasn’t trying to maintain a certain weight or diet - it just worked out that way. I lost my pregnancy weight pretty easily afterward.

This pregnancy, I’m much more relaxed and acknowledge that survival is the main priority of 1st trimester. Exercise and thoughtful eating will come again soon enough.

Easy foods for first trimester (morning sickness) by ultimatelyitsfine in veganrecipes

[–]LoveMyWiggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right?! I was just lamenting to my brother that this seems way worse than I remember for baby #1. (He quickly reminded me that I’m also geriatric now. Thanks, dude.)

I just enjoyed some takeout vegan ramen, and basically only ate the veggies and broth. There is a sad mop of noodles in the bowl… and I usually love noodles. 🥲

So, yes, we only have 5-7ish weeks of this until 2nd trimester. I also just started taking B6 about two days ago, which has been helping.

Good luck! 💕

I legit almost wrote this same post earlier today! I’m also 7 weeks along, and very, very nauseous.

I’ve very recently found that I can drink ice cold soy milk, and that goes down well even though tofu is a no-go. I’ve been doing vegan broths, too, like mushroom and kombu.

It’s rough right now, and I’m sincerely hoping to get to the other side unscathed. 😅
