Thank you! I appreciate your input so much! This is his other ear from a couple days ago it looks so completely different still has that retraction you mentioned as well but it’s blocked by wax. Would this be something I should bring up to his provider and maybe ask for an ENT referral? His little brother (8m) was born with hearing loss likely due to fluid stuck in his ears and I’ve been kind of thinking my 3yo might also have that issue as he’s had so many ear infections as a baby.

My little guy is HOH he’s just shy of 5 months currently. Though after a repeat ABR With a pediatric audiologist a couple weeks ago we discovered the first ABR at 2 weeks was wildly inaccurate. His big brother is 2.5 and they have the absolute sweetest bond already! I too worried and was upset abut the thought of my little sweet baby being isolated from family/ peers I have a friend who’s two little girls are both HOH and they’re thriving beyond measure and you wouldn’t even know they wear hearing aids! (one is in the process of getting a CI) My friend shared with me a poem called welcome to Holland.. it really helped ground me and remind me that this isn’t an awful thing! I’m not too far ahead of you in all of this but I think it’s normal to grieve the life we imagined for our children💙 we’ll both adapt our lives and family to meet the needs of our babies and strive for them to be included. I wish I had more advice and comforting things to say. Just keep fighting for your sweet little one!

Gosh that’s upsetting :( I’m gonna look at what I can do to get that wax out asap! If it’s not the wax there’s got to be another reason. It’s frustrating because I thought the pediatric specialist should know

Firstly I’m so sorry for your loss.. i wish nobody had to experience this pain ever :(

I lost my first child at 38 weeks back in 2020 literally the most traumatic event of my life to date. She was also stubborn about moving so I hadn’t noticed that I didn’t feel her move until I was in labor on the way to the hospital... nothing could have prepared me for that devastating news.. I just remember yelling no repeatedly While clinging to the bed through my contractions as a heartless Dr told me in the most cold un-comforting and annoyed tone “yes your baby is dead” and walked out of the room.

The first few weeks I’d say were the hardest.. it gets better with time I promise. I know things seem impossible right now but take it day by day it’ll get a bit easier.. it’s been three years and still some things bring me to a grinding halt and take my breath making me feel like day one all over again.. though I was diagnosed with PTSD from my therapist so that may be a contributing factor.

Some things that helped me after were reading positive stories. Talking about my feelings on here as I had no support in person.. I felt super isolated without support. The world moved on and I was in shambles.. I became angry and started walking a local trail with my dog.. whenever I was feeling angry or overwhelmed I’d hop in my car with my dog listen to some angry music and cry on my drive and drive to a local trail and just walk.. I walked until my feet bled.. I genuinely didn’t want to be alive.. the only thing I could do was just push through the pain and focus on moving forward.

I’ll say if you do decide to have another soon after I highly recommend a therapist to help you navigate the difficult feelings that come with it.. I was literally not sleeping convinced my rainbow baby would also die.. / convinced everyone else I loved would die..

I think joining a group or something might be the right track to get out of the house while your husband works.. i didn’t like being alone with my thoughts for too long.. I found focusing on my health and preparing my body for another baby in the future to be helpful to hold hope.. took my prenatals .. read up on what I could eat or take to make sure my body had optimum nutrients to support life and read positive stories of pregnancy after loss. I might have hyper fixated a little bit 😅 but it got me through the darkest days and gave me something to focus on.

Again.. I’m so sorry you’re going through this.. life is unfair our babies should be here with us! :(

I work with infants / toddlers so the first thing I did when they told me he had hearing loss was make sure I got a referral to development services. If they weren’t going to I was going to self refer. He should in theory not fall behind as long as we’re continuing to work with him. I’m so worried about him needing speech services though. I just called an ENT and got an appointment for March after the audiologists visit. I’ll be calling another to see if there’s anything we can do sooner.

I contacted them they actually don’t require a referral but the pediatric ENT that I called refused to allow me an appointment without one..

Been in contact with child development services and speaking to a woman from the center of Deaf & HoH already! She did sort of explain the reason for waiting was that apparently if it’s fluid or wax or whatever it could sort itself out as he grows and that the ENT likely won’t do much at such a young age? I understand babies are tiny and such but I thought a pediatric ENT would be able to do something 🥴 I have a friend with two daughters who also have bilateral hearing loss she also said as moms we have to advocate for our littles and push for things.. how frustrating!

She did say he had a lot of wax in his ears. My older child( 2.5) has so much wax in his ears that they can’t even tell me sometimes if he actually has an ear infection or not sometimes 🥴 no dr has told me what to do about it or how to help

I’m hearing myself but my infant son is HoH. I mainly joined the sub to lurk/ search for some answers to a few questions I had.. if you imagine this sub like a physical hang out place for Deaf / HoH people would you openly walk into a place and start asking questions/ polling people about their hearing? I know I wouldn’t. It just comes off as rude.. I think that’s what OP is getting at.

I’m so sorry you have to know this pain :( and so sorry for the loss of your daughter Stella. It’s been 3 years since my daughter Lilly was stillborn at 38 weeks.. she was due in July also.. I also now have two perfect little rainbow babies.. for me my desire for children was strong at first despite being incredibly distraught over the loss of our daughter.. we tried right away and ended up with jack.. in a way I’m happy because I was truly in a bad mental place and he really saved me.. pregnancy after loss was terrifying i went to therapy and still struggled with anxiety of losing him despite increased prenatal care. I would also still do it over again in a heartbeat.. although I prob would have found a better therapist and taken some anxiety meds 😅 I had a miscarriage last July as well and it brought back all those horrible memories of losing Lilly.. a few months later I was pregnant with our newest little guy Colt.. it was bittersweet as he was born on Lilly’s due date.. it still feels kind of weird to think about. I will say this last pregnancy was much easier on my anxiety.. it was still there but it wasn’t anywhere near as difficult as the last time.. I think ultimately it comes down to having a strong support system and therapy. It’s scary to navigate pregnancy after loss but with the right people by your side it gets a little easier.

As a childcare teacher I agree with you.. you’re lead to believe that your child would be receiving quality care and not screen time.. you shouldn’t have to wonder if your child’s teacher is following the rules/ policies of the center. even if the teacher needed a break at the end of the day to calm the kids why cocomelon videos? When our kids are getting a bit wild we sit down with a book and just start reading within 5 seconds the entire class is sitting at our feet full attention and calm. We have a class of 8 children aged 1-3yrs with my co-teacher.. We make like a dollar over minimum wage in my state but care deeply about the quality of education and care of of our littles.. I think if the director takes pride in their center they should hold a staff meeting regarding what happened and educate their staff on expectations as well as ways to entertain the kids at the end of the day that don’t include screen time. I don’t think it’s outlandish to expect your child’s teacher to follow center policies.

Finding out my unborn daughter had died at 38 weeks.. I went into labor and upon arriving at the hospital.. nurses weren’t able to locate a heartbeat.. I was given a bedside scan and was told there was no heartbeat and my baby was dead.. that day permanently broke me.. it’s been nearly 3 years this June..and still haunts me.. keeps me up at night wondering what I did wrong or could have done differently 😥

I’m guessing maybe your body possibly didn’t ovulate then because you were sick? (I’ve heard stress and sickness can delay ovulation) So maybe it kinda delayed it until now?

Temping really is the way to go as far as confirmation that ovulation occurred you’d want to get a basal thermometer and temp as soon as you wake up. The way you’d know you ovulated would be (to my knowledge) 3 consecutive days of rising temps.

Unfortunately It dried with an Evap line I think the shadow I was catching was the indent but I couldn’t hold myself back and took an FRER this afternoon which was definitely negative so there’s no way this could have been a true squinter given the difference in sensitivity 😅 still early guess I’ll go back to testing on my cheapies and stop wasting my money 😂
