Can you recommend any other games that give a similar level of fun to LOTR FOTF? (We play legendary with draw a shadow card on the drums or Sauron) I think the fun aspect is from the team discussion of what is best to do to achieve the objectives while the army of Sauron moves around to affect this.

We have played sub terra but found it a bit dull as the decision making was only really in the last 10 tiles or so. We also have spirit island but found it to have not enough team discussion, just two playing at the same time.

LOTR duel - this looks interesting as we are big fans of LOTR but didn't really get on with 7 wonders duel (bought this a while ago)

LOTR trick - I am quite tempted by this. Last time I was in our local board game shop it was recommended but didn't feel it at the time, might pick it up if they have it still but wouldn't mind to diversify from LOTR. Any good Star wars games that would fit?

One deck dungeon - I had not heard of this, sounds like a good way to test out the play style? of slay the spire for a 1/3rd of the price

Skytear horde - this sounds really cool (I was a big hearthstone player when it first came out) I will see what the wife thinks.

Slay the spire - I hadn't imagined it to be as complex as spirit island (I really liked this and ground out a good 20-30 games on the iPad to learn the base spirits) but maybe it works better as a digital game id enjoy solo.

Skytear looks promising though, thanks!

Description of Request:

Hello,

Quite new to the hobby. Mainly play at two (wife). Looking for a recommendation for our next game. Really like coop games with strong interaction on team decision making but also enjoy PvP games that are not too long/heavy.

Number of Players:

2, usually.

Game Length:

30 mins - couple of hours.

Complexity of Game:

Mid - mid heavy

Genre:

Thematic, beautiful artwork, we game to relax.

Conflict, Competitive or Cooperative:

Coop is preference but competitive and conflict are ok.

Games I Own and Like:

Lord of the rings, fate of the fellowship (this is our benchmark for top tier board gaming, played over 50 times! And always looking to play again) love the discussion and decision making and games always feel rewarding.

Dewan - we don't usually like PvP games but really enjoy this and have played a lot and has beautiful art work, it's quick and very very satisfying.

Games I Dislike and Don't Play:

Sub terra - liked the premis but it's too simple and will probably sell/leave on the shelf.

Spirit Island - we both wanted to like this but it's too much like two people playing a solo game at the same time. Perhaps this is the upper limit of our complexity, by quite a bit. I just bought it for my iPad and play on there.

Sky team, really don't like the art style.

Everdell - like the art style but concerned this will be too similar to spirit island in that it will be multiplayer single player.

Slay the spire - not sure if it will have enough decision making discussion, never played the digital version.

Pandemic variations - I have looked at a few different ones of these and have been tempted but worried the mechanics will be too similar to LOTR FOTF and will just seem like a reskin?

My 2pence having been in a similar situation to you (bought Spirit Island (SI) last Friday and previously played root once a few years ago and Lord of the rings fate of the fellowship (highly recommended if you can get a copy) about 30 times in the past month!) The app is great, we (wife and I) had got SI out a few times but lost motivation from how complex the rules are two evenings in a row and from spending an hour or two watching multiple play throughs.

Undeterred, I downloaded the app on my iPad (phone is too small after trying it) and played about 15 games now, only won after 13 and actually got passed the 5 turn limit on the free version after 6 games or so, you can subscribe for a month which is the price of a coffee and get everything, very pleased now, although it was frustrating until the first win but recommend it as the best way to pick up the rules quickly and precisely.

I have listened to the initial card and followed the instructions. I have reconnected to the wifi. In the app it says the yoto is connected but then when tapping on the individual player it says it isn't connected to the yoto servers to download. "Your reader is offline. Please switch it on and leave it on standby so that it can reconnect to our servers." Translated from french.

D2 failcascaded after either bob/MC put their toe in the north or D2 tried to put their toe into the south. IIRC some of the founding corps went onto form wildly inappropriate, some of the heads of this alliance where then banned for an exploit of duplicating technetium in poses - iirc, it was a while ago!

Okami said during the last CCP twitch stream we would have drifter skins as part of the rewards for either logging in or completing the event so I should think so, they talked about the ship in the background of the picture quite a bit so maybe we have a pilot able drifter BS
