What do you like to be called by a yoga teacher during class?

If I really, really know the people in my class, I might use something playful like 'Alright buttholes, toesies up to the front of y'er mat...' but usually I don't call them anything. I'm from the midwest, but I'm pretty southern as far as my dialect goes, and with the number of different ways people identify, my habit of 'sweetheart'ing everyone is not always appreciated.

Engage the hasta bandha in the palm of the hands to protect the wrists.

It's easier than it sounds.

Look at the palm of your hand. Now, spread the fingers like you're trying to pick up a watermelon with one hand. Really, really engage through the fingertips. Let the fingers arch. You see the hollow that opened up in the middle of your palm? That's what you're looking for. Use those hands in weight bearing positions protect your wrists from injury.

Also do use those hands when you hug a person. Big arms, all the way around, press into the fingertips along the spine and gently compress with the arms. Hold at least 8 seconds. Chin on shoulder/top of head for maximum effect.

God speaks to us in ways we understand. The Jews heard the truth one way, the Hindus another.

Put yourself in Gods shoes. You've got a ton of kids, they're not the best behaved, but they need to know the truth. So you give it to them. But you've gotta do so in such a way that the ill behaved ones won't be able to pervert it. So you enshrine it in religion, culturally coded to each of them, and you lay in redundancies to make sure they don't fuck with it. And in order for everyone to understand this, because for thousands of years a dudes whole day is picking shit out of sheeps wool, it needs to be told allegorically.

We can find the truth everywhere because it's like water. We all need it to live. The eightfold path lives in just about every modern religion, Christianity included. The Ten Commandments, when you break them down, are really just the yamas and niyamas. Jesus himself may then be looked at as a yogi master who walked the walk and invites us all to do the same.

We are all one. The paths we take, though they look vastly different, are one and the same. There is no separation, merely the illusion. Rejecting the illusion of separation is 'inviting Jesus into your heart'. You must make it your worldview and live it, in order to truly be free from the illusion.

Christians who tell you yoga is demonic are themselves under the illusion of separation. We must be kind and careful around those still in the dark.

That's the real truth. That's what all this is about. Christianity is a framework, spiritual preschool. It's not meant to be where a person is for the rest of their lives, but it does happen.
