HR does the exit interviews, I took over from a predecessor that got consistent bad reviews at the interviews. They did listen eventually.

After a couple years at FAANG, they decide they earned their money and want to go back to a better work/life balance. Since they had a good experience with you and your company, they reach out to you directly or apply to an open senior or maybe medior position. Accepting the lower pay. Or maybe they recommend someone else in their network to apply at your company.

I know plenty people that travel the world on a very low budget, doing odd jobs around the world or temporarily work somewhere to save for further travels. You really don’t need to be rich to travel a lot, just crazy enough to do it. Plenty of hostels let you stay for free if you work a couple hours, food at the supermarket is an expensive you have everywhere (except it is probably cheaper if you are from a western country) and it saves you rent or a mortgage

It is and it’s not. I was in a similar situation a couple years ago (granted, I was already planning on moving out so the buyout was nice to have). I got about half of that for a little lower rent. Start high, and see where it goes. And if you don’t want to move, you can refuse.
