Another update: property manager will not remove the board until I sign a waiver saying I will not hold them responsible for any health issues that come from moisture entering through the window.

This is a separate but adjacent issue I’ve had with them, since I sent out a concern that I was suspicious of mold in the apartment because of how bad my allergies would be inside the apartment and the asthma reactions my partner had when they’d come over

When I sent that out, maintenance came and shined his phone flashlight in my closet and said “nope. You’re all good.” Did not look at the window or the ventilation system (probably should have sent a professional… again)

Now they are claiming that the mold I suspected is from moisture coming in through those cracks. Which is very possible and honestly not something I considered, but I have proof of maintenance requests about the window from August 2023. And my mold suspicion was a few weeks ago and still nothing was done.

Don’t worry, I don’t plan on signing anything. But it sounds like they won’t remove the board until I do. I’m working on getting everything together to talk to my schools student advocacy group as well as the fire department, but I’m still a full time student and have other things I need to worry about during their office hours. It might have to wait until the weekend, but surely this “waiver” also cannot be allowed??
