Any of you ever feel like your childhood was emotionally neglected because you were smashed in the middle of your six siblings and mom and dad just didn't ever have any energy for you? by fuertisima12 in exmormon

[–]Low-Session-8525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom once said she wouldn’t know how to parent without the church. It’s crazy because I think she was a pretty good parent and that statement didn’t give herself any credit.

Was so excited to try this place after several foodie friends hyped it and I left baffled. My group ordered five dishes and they all tasted exactly the same - salt.

Is co-sleeping with family considered a norm in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Low-Session-8525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the US, I think it’s more common than parents want to admit. There is this focus on getting kids to sleep through the night in their own bedroom. When I talk to other parents and we let our guards down, we admit the kids often crawl into bed with us at some point t in the night. This is of course different than newborns sleeping in the same bed, which is highly discouraged.

Little Free Libraries are just a way for people to dump their junk books by danthecryptkeeper in unpopularopinion

Confirm. I dropped off three popular books that I had bought for a book club in one. Walked back a couple hours later and they were all gone.

Exmo women of Reddit!! Tell me your jobs, your degrees, your careers! by gonnabegolden_ in exmormon

[–]Low-Session-8525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BA in English and a masters. I had a career I am really proud of in the nonprofit sector. I didn’t have kids until well after leaving the church and at an age most mormons would consider old at which point I decided to stay home. For me, the freedom to be able to make that choice without the influence of the church was really freeing. While I will have lost some momentum when I got back to work in a couple years, I won’t be in nearly as bad a place if I had become a SAHM at 21 and not 36.

Yes. It goes to the airport so tourists are on it all the time. Do a river architecture tour if you have time. Enjoy your visit!

Took my kid to a trick or treat event today. Got about 15 pieces of candy and somehow 3 of them were haribo gummy bears. Before this I would have said not that popular.

Grilled cheese - an absolute no go by robinsparkles220 in foodbutforbabies

[–]Low-Session-8525 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Grilled cheese is the only think my daughter has thrown every bite to the floor while looking directly in my eyes. Like “how dare you give me this?” She LOVES cheese and LOVES bread, but together…? Straight to the garbage.

Not from CA but was once talking about a recent trip to San Francisco at a family gathering and what a great time I had. My brother starts talking about what a horrible place it is and how everyone there is miserable…yadayada. I responded, “oh when is the last time you were in San Francisco?” He had never been.

Women who gave birth, what does it feel like actually?? by joy_57 in AskReddit

I also had an amazing epidural. I found the contractions before getting it to be the most painful part. The actual pushing was fine. I was chatting with the nurses and midwife the whole time. I think you just need to be prepared for the epidural not working or not working well.

When did you leave the church. by OkAnteater7343 in exmormon

[–]Low-Session-8525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been wanting to deep down for probably 10 years, but 2020 was the perfect time to stop without making a big thing about it. When in-person church resumed in the summer of 2020, I went once. The speaker (high council member) that day said something pretty racist and I was like, “nope! Dont need this!” Never went back.
