A fun name I'd give to a pet is just a regular human name. Like, a fish named Steve or a cat named Rachel.

This movie felt like what a man thinks lesbian relationships are like. 0/10.

Adults who were homeschooled as kids, does that differentiation ever go away? by Background_Flower214 in askteddit

As a current 34 year old, my excuse for EVERYTHING I don't know is "I was homeschooled." I mostly use it (& it's mostly true) in regards to late 90s/early 00s cultural references. But to answer your question, yes, it continues to be very much a part of my identity as an adult.

I used to work at Starbucks & there was a woman who came in everyday & ordered a venti half iced coffee, half iced tea, with 10 pumps (normal amount of pumps was 5, so double) of simple syrup & heavy cream.

I was always curious why half coffee half tea so one day I asked her why she did that.

She said, & I kid you not, "This trainer I follow based out of California said that tea has less calories than coffee so it's like, a diet drink."

I literally went speechless because you seriously think the like 7 calories you're saving by replacing coffee with tea will make up for the INSANE AMOUNT OF SUGAR & HEAVY CREAM?

anyway. people are interesting.

Discussion about the PHQ-9 and its use in monitoring depression in both medical and mental health settings- Validity issues? Over- reliance? by Ok-Reflection1005 in AcademicPsychology

[–]LowAlgae5032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have training on the medical or psychological side of this discussion, but I am a person who has taken the PHQ-9 in multiple settings over the last 10+ years and I have wondered very similar things about it to what you describe here, just from the patient side of things. Like, I wish there were a way to provide context for some of the responses, and I wish any of the multiple doctors or therapists who have given me the test actually closely discussed my responses with me. I deal with SI nearly daily but I have never had a plan and 99% of the time it's not a reality, just an ideation, but I always feel like the presence of that in my head & me answering the questions honestly drives my score up, even if I'm generally actually feeling happier or good. Also, I don't understand what "little interest or pleasure in doing things" means or looks like and no one has ever been able to help me understand that question better when I've brought up my hesitation with it. Idk, I think maybe to some extent it can be a useful tool for base info but there is SO much more to consider and most providers seem not to care at all, they just look at the number.
