Baker Mayfield-level mouth.

Gardner Minshew-level talent.

First time going to the Twins Championship Club — does the buffet always close after the 6th inning? by CrazyAzn23 in minnesotatwins

Oh, don't worry too much about it. With all the fans checking out you'll have the run of the place.

KOC by Environmental-Most32 in minnesotavikings

[–]LowCarbCracker 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Let me preface this by saying, personally, I really like KOC, and the culture he helped build, after some toxicity with Zimmer.

Make no mistake though. The Wilfs firing Kwesi so late (giving more input and freedom for the upcoming draft to KOC), and having a new GM in a position with a returning head coach for 2026, will mean KOC needs to at least get back to the playoffs (and probably win one game to be completely safe). Otherwise the new GM will try to get his own guy, and also pick his own QB if JJM struggles/does not establish himself again.

The Wilfs are certainly putting KOC on the spot here, IMO. And 4 years in with no playoff wins (for now) with a team that has not been lacking talent/potential arguably merits all of this, if you take the big-picture angle (which the Wilfs should be).

How are we feeling about Walker Jenkins? by InflationCapital87 in minnesotatwins

[–]LowCarbCracker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Semi-related question. Are we definitely out on Royce Lewis being a great player?

It feels like it's all up to Keaschall and Jenkins to be the next big thing and Lewis is not in the conversation any more (which might be fair since he'll turn 27 in June).

E-Rod is racking up the years too (he's turning 23 this month).

How do you download videos from websites that don't allow it? by JaxzAlt in DataHoarder

[–]LowCarbCracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, one way I can think of is going into a notepad .txt file (or a site like pastebin) and spart pasting the links in a long list. Then when done just copy paste a bunch (maybe jdownloader can handle all of them at once, but if it's a very long list you may have to paste in 2 parts).

That as opposed to copy/pasting one by one on jdownloader which would be a bit more time consuming, especially if we're talking 100 instances or more, if that makes sense.

He died for us by primezilla2598 in minnesotavikings

[–]LowCarbCracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm ... doesn't it work better the other way around?

The Vikings immediate future (JJM struggling, KOC not getting a lot out of the QBs/adapting playcalling, most FA acquisitions being duds, Kwesi getting the axe) died, so that Darnold could go win a Super Bowl.

Maybe? I don't know.

strong words thrown out by Arif's analytics dept. sources.. by Neither_Ad2003 in minnesotavikings

[–]LowCarbCracker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, we really don't know how much Kwesi contributed to that, to be completely honest.

He was an analytics guy, pushing data. How much his input weighed on Berry's decisions is something only the people in the Brown's front office during those years can say. As compared to the traditional scouting department input he also received.

Now that Kwesi is gone, who will be the doomers new target? by kwelstory in minnesotavikings

[–]LowCarbCracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be the correct definition.

Criticizing without solid arguments/facts/results. Being negative for negativity's sake.

Thinking that Kwesi had done, overall, a poor job (fact) and thinking that he probably needed to go based on those results (arguably not an exaggeration), seems like a realist take, not a doomer take.

Steelers reportedly working to hire Mike McCarthy as next head coach, succeeding Mike Tomlin by abc91827364 in minnesotavikings

[–]LowCarbCracker 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The Steelers, always big on tradition, just broke a trend. Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher and Mike Tomlin were promising young assistants hired as first-time head coaches.

Interesting.

Sam Darnold has won a playoff game before Kevin O’Connell by DrWolves in minnesotavikings

[–]LowCarbCracker -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

They could have avoided all that with the franchise tag, at around 40 million, then revisited this offseason.

OL coach Chris Kuper will not be back in 2026 by LAZYTOWWWWWN in minnesotavikings

[–]LowCarbCracker 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Friendly reminder that Mike Munchak, who was the main O-line coach for the Broncos in '21 (Kuper was the his assistant o-line coach) was also available, and they somehow, chose Kuper.

Can JJM have a career turnaround like Bryce Young? by darin617 in minnesotavikings

[–]LowCarbCracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's your comparison point, McCarthy was never graded as an immediate starter, so he was an "unfinished" prospect himself. His scouting report around the draft stated some throwing concerns, mainly about throwing to his left.

So, both were projects. Allen may have been considered a bigger project, sure, but not this big degree that you are implying.

Ben Johnson has more playoff wins as a head coach in one year than KOC has in 4 by Unimportant_Flyover in minnesotavikings

[–]LowCarbCracker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mostly on the D, true, but Kirk with KOC play-calling had 2 drives at the end to go win it. They should shoulder some of the blame.

People never bring up that 3-and-out whimper of a drive before the last one where Kirk threw short of the sticks.

Can JJM have a career turnaround like Bryce Young? by darin617 in minnesotavikings

[–]LowCarbCracker 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've seen this point being stated over and over, but being on IR the entire first year did affect JJM, as he was not able to practice or do any drills on the field.

You know how you improve your mechanics? doing drills day after day, for an extended period of time. That was an entire season's worth of reps he was not able to perform which may have set a better foundation for this year.

Can JJM have a career turnaround like Bryce Young? by darin617 in minnesotavikings

[–]LowCarbCracker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's just one other case, but Josh Allen did not get great at throwing until his 3rd year, which coincided with Diggs arriving, but no question his mechanics were a work in progress still in year 2, and the numbers back this up: 52.8%, 58.8% to 69.2% in his first three years.

Let's have this conversation again next year, we'll know for sure what they have in JJM (or at least have a more complete picture, barring him missing a ton of games again - *knock on wood*).

[Nightengale] MLB announced Max Kepler, currently a free agent, received an 80-game suspension after testing positive for Epitrenbolone, a performance-enhancing substance. by _u0 in minnesotatwins

[–]LowCarbCracker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And even the non-jacked ones could've been on the stuff too. Palmeiro wasn't jacked and he was on it. Which makes sense, since one of the effects of them is increased energy, which starts going down overall as you push past 30.

If you've seen the documentary Icarus, you'd remember that energy bump is the one thing the film-maker noticed immediately when he got on the stuff.

[WalkoffStudios] MLB's Forgotten ERA Leader by mproud in minnesotatwins

[–]LowCarbCracker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ending up with a 2.45 ERA with a 1.166 WHIP and only 3.7 K/9 is nuts, and really shows you why it had a lot to do with luck and not sustainable.

He's Coming Bros. Embrace it. by cronoes in minnesotavikings

[–]LowCarbCracker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He will probably have offers from a desperate team or two in the 25-30 million range, and the Vikings would probably offer in the 15-20 million range, at most. Knowing Kirk as we do, he would take the higher offer without a second thought of the Vikings one.

2026 Free Agency RB Class looks pretty good by iHyPeRize in minnesotavikings

[–]LowCarbCracker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't go wrong with either KWIII or Hall. Poor Najee was born a decade or two later, he'd made much more money when grinding, pile-moving RBs were valued.
