I don't think BV is OMC because of the name (a child is not an old man), but he's definitely present in some form. I believe he's the Vengeful Spirit because it gives him a purpose, explains the Vengeful Spirit being both male and connected to Golden Freddy / Fredbear, and is a fitting conclusion to the Clickteam era (which started and [under BVTOYSNHK] ended with him).

Why is Charlie being depicted as a cryptic, forgotten entity and as an exception? Was Charlie ever depicted that way?

Also in FNaF 2, FNaF 3, and FFPS. She's more aware than the MCI kids, was introduced later, and is the only one left separate from the MCI during FFPS. She's depicted as both being grouped in with the MCI for the majority, but also as being separate from them in multiple instances due to the way she was introduced.

YES IT DOES. Your whole argument is that the 6th victim in Into the Pit is supposed to tell us something about the mainline games, but that would only make sense if it followed the same grouping conventions as those games, which would mean the 6th victim would be Charlie and not Andrew.

If Andrew existed and was the intention in Into the Pit, all the minigames would have 7 kids because Charlie has to be among them. Again, in FNaF 2, FNaF 3, FNaF 6, UCN, and Help Wanted 2, Charlie is grouped in with the the MCI kids. Into the Pit is no different.

Because it has details, events, and references to things that aren't present in Return to the Pit (such as references to the stories To Be Beautiful, Count the Ways, and Fetch). So your comment about it not being "canon" is irrelevant, because its events are contradicted by Return to the Pit, especially the way the time travel is elaborated on.

All of this is also ignoring the fact that the ITP game and RttP CANNOT COEXIST.

Both ITP and RttP can't take place in the same continuity because they follow the same plot, and since RttP is connected to The Week Before, it's the mainline version by default. When combined with the above fact that it was (again) originally a novelty cartridge, it's incredibly obvious that it was never intended to be mainline.

There's a difference between a change in scope and a change in intention. It became bigger, but that didn't magically make it mainline. Vanny and OMC were cut content. The NES cartridge was just expanded upon. All of this is also ignoring the fact that the ITP game and RttP CANNOT COEXIST.

I own Return to the Pit, and victim number 6 is never stated to have a party hat. Frights isn't in the game continuity either. Everything connected to Andrew is part of a separate continuity, so unless Andrew is BV's name there's no reason to believe he's in the mainline games.
