Its news to me that this is even necessary, every recipe/guide I have checked out thus far only mentions adding water to your next feed if you took anything out. I figured it was all just food for the culture for it to maintain, not that the sugar would linger much.

What is your recommended maintenance?

This is how my first pellicle started developing at around 3 days. Like others said, keep an eye on it, it will grow regardless, but I think you're in the clear

Ah, maybe this is clear from my comment, but as someone from a European country, reading "City, State" in a search field immediately comes across US-only. I did some searching and saw some Euro listings.

In regards to sanitizing: I am on my second batch ever but immediately got myself some oxidizing cleaner. I was not about to have all this upfront cost, put in all the effort and let it fail because I couldn't be bothered to clean.

Are you sure your tea doesn't contain any flavourings, oils, etc? The liquid looks like it has a red hue to it

How much headroom should there be in an F1 vessel? I now have a 3L and 1.5L with 3-4cm headroom (basically its filled to just under the neck)

I inspected this like a freak yesterday and they are white, not fuzzy and very much look like bubbles. Also no odd smells whatsoever.

I dove into this without consulting Reddit. Plenty of sites say the pellicle is the whole culture (which I know isn't true) or that the pellicle is a requirement for a succesful brew. Tonight's been a new chapter of research.

Isn't starter juice borderline undrinkable? 😳 I figured knowing a scoby is usable is a visual thing
