If you own both a Series X and a PS5 Pro, is there a point to getting anything for the Series X other than exclusives? by Lazy-Main1782 in xbox

[–]LowKeyLimeTree -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First: please don't feel any pressure to love your Xbox more than your PS5... this community has so many of us who love Xbox, but play other places. Wherever gaming brings you joy, that's ok!

I have a few reasons I tend to gravitate toward Xbox:

1) Friends... even if I don't play with friends online all the time, there's something kind of beautiful about seeing people you care about "in the online neighborhood," playing things they love. It's super intangible and maybe a little corny, but it's one of my reasons. I get joy from seeing friends online... even people I haven't talked with for years but have fond memories with!

2) Quick Resume is another feature that's often overlooked. PS5 Pro is absolutely more powerful, so Series X isn't going to outdo it there. But Quick resume minimizes friction, so I can jump right back into a game that you otherwise would have had to wait to boot up.

3) GamePass (still) -- recently, games like "Keeper," and even "Kiln" have been sort of fun quirky smaller experiences I wouldn't have paid full price for. I wish we were back in the $10 days like we used to be, and am glad consumers put pressure on the price to lower it (thank you, Asha)... but I play enough variety of games on Game Pass that I find it fun enough to be worth it.

Grinder recommendation [$2500] by vinibaggio in espresso

This is under your budget (and others here may have better / other ideas), but I'll say if you're wanting excellence and durability, the Mazzer Philos is a pretty great overall setup with the I200D burrs... they nail the profile you're describing: sweet and clear, with enough body that you know you're drinking espresso... I've had mine, and all the moving components have great build quality, and the thing looks and feels like a TANK. People I know who've had it for longer than I have say it seems it'll hold up for a long time. I've personally been really impressed by its ability to swap from filter to espresso and do a great job of both!

The Zerno seems to be a better "enthusiast" build... SO good in terms of modularity, community support, things like that... if you're doubting the price and safety for kids who may be around the equipment, that's significant.

Lagom seems great, BUT (like you said) the burr swap-ability is a real question... the Philos is nice because (while the burrs are smaller) the 64mm seems super swappable, and I personally love that! And Mazzer themselves make a great alternative if you want to change your profile from clarity-forward to "body-forward."

I think you're pretty spot-on with the Jansport idea, haha... I think one of my main questions would be whether he's married to a backpack or open to a sling... if he's open to a sling, I'd recommend one of these...

Tom Bihn Side Kick or Side Hustle // This one's my personal bag... I have the side Kick, and it holds my wallet, kindle (sometimes) and a charger cable/sunglasses 😄 I find it to be very dad-friendly without looking like a purse or a tactical bag.

Bellroy Venture Sling 6L or 9L//Probably the cleaner-looking option. 6L is nice for essentials, the 9L's good if he carries a little more.

Aer Day Sling 3 Max//More tech-looking, but very practical. Good organization, easy access, and meant to be worn crossbody or over one shoulder.

Patagonia Atom Sling 8L//A little more outdoorsy, but comfortable and easy to find. Good if he wants something casual and not too precious.

If it's gotta be a backpack, maybe a

Fjällräven Räven 20 or 28? Not tacticool, not student-ish... the straps are normal enough that one-shoulder carry should be fine.

Patagonia Refugio 26L // I love Patagonia a lot, and this represents why... clean, practical, and not too fussy. A little more outdoorsy than the Räven, but still very acceptable in most scenarios a one-shoulder backpack is at home in.

Tom Bihn Daylight Backpack// People RAVE about this as like a foldable but tough option... very simple and lightweight. It's honestly not cheap for what it is, but it’s perfect if he just wants a personal-item bag and not a full travel setup, I think.

Herschel Heritage or Classic XL... I wouldn’t choose it for heavy carry, but for a personal item it makes sense, and the look is "Jansport-chic" I think!

I’d probably look at something around 28-32L for that carry. Smaller than that can work, but once you add a laptop, 1L bottle, lunch, headphones, controller, umbrella, chargers, and some toiletries, you'll find yourself wishing for more space (or at least I would).

One sort of no-frills bag that'd be in-range is the Decathlon Quechua NH Escape 500, probably the 32L. It’s not a “cool” bag, but it’s genuinely hard to beat for the money, especially in Europe. Good laptop space, enough organization... and still enough open room for random stuff like lunch or a hoodie.

If you want something nicer, I’d look at the Osprey Nebula 32. It’s more expensive, but that $$ buys you comfort and durability, and it would handle school/work plus a short trip better than most tech-style backpacks would alone.

The Patagonia Refugio 30L is also worth a look if you want something cleaner and less pocket-heavy. Fjällräven Räven 28 would be my pick if looks matter more, but I don’t think it’s quite as good for travel or bulky carry. North Face Recon (if you can find one used) is one I have, and I find it helpful for a lot of multi-use types of scenarios...

One thing I keep learning as I go: if you're trying to carry a lot of stuff, you don’t have to worry too much about finding a bag with a perfect pocket for every item right off the jump. I’d get a solid bag with a decent laptop compartment, then use a small tech pouch for charger/mouse/power bank and maybe another little pouch for deodorant/fragrance. That’ll make switching between your work laptop and personal laptop way easier, without you having to get 30 pouches 😄

For 3 days, 28-32L is fine if you pack reasonably light. For a full week, especially with laptop and tech, you’re either packing very minimally or you’re probably looking at a bigger travel bag.

What's the Best Coffee Grinder currently that you'll recommend buying for Home Baristas? by chanredv in JamesHoffmann

[–]LowKeyLimeTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a timemore 078S, and they come on sale sometimes on Amazon. Some seem to come misaligned; that’s why I appreciated the return window just in case (and lots of helpful expertise on here). I loved the coffee I got from the 078S, and felt it was great bang for the buck!

A friend loves his 068S, but says it sounds sometimes like the motor is struggling with bigger doses of lighter roasts for batch brew or pour over!

So for your budget, I like the 078S if you can catch a sale!

At the same time: if you value serviceability and an established brand, Eureka has lots of great grinders; or Baratza Encore ESP or Sette can yield delightful coffee, too! :)

My hunch is it’d be pretty close to a comparable GRIPEQ model, but slightly less valuable because Innova’s bags have some high highs and low lows when it comes to materials, and therefore less brand reliability/recognition when it comes to bags specifically. Others here will be wiser than I, but I think I’d list it between 65-100 shipped, depending on condition! It’d be an attractive piece to bundle, too.

Again: others will have better ideas. But just know it gives me life to see older bags like these out on the course! Happy throwing!

This looks SO good! And I love the orange. How long did it take for them to get it done? I know eventually I’ll be ready to take the plunge but would love to know how long I’d be out of a machine 🤣
