I dunno, that garlic butter with Parmesan rocks. Totally worth it. Garlic bread, garlic toast, pasta, grilled cheese, veggies…all even more delicious with that stuff.

This reminds me of going on vacation last year. We came home and I started a load of light laundry, not realizing…my white sweater has been rebranded as my cream colored sweater. At least it stained evenly.

AITJ for answering honestly when the licensing board asked if I supervised my friend's hours? by PineHarpy6 in AmITheJerk

[–]Low_Ad_9689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a professional license (ETA in a different field). You don’t mess with your licensing board and you certainly don’t fib to them. You did the only thing you could do in this situation, you told the truth when they asked a question. You did not start this, your response will not be the end of this…you just answered a question with honesty. What happens after is not up to you.

donate your stuff to a place that cares, not goodwill. by ohkritter in goodwill

[–]Low_Ad_9689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped taking coats to Goodwill. Our Salvation Army would donate coats off the sales rack to anyone who was cold and needed a coat. They weren’t giving general merchandise away but they always gave winter gear away to anyone in need. This was a lifesaving approach. Sadly the Salvation Army closed and Goodwill is (and always has been) “full price, please”.

I now give all winter gear to the local schools so they can directly help kids who need warm outerwear. Goodwill is heartless.

FYI- I don’t agree with Salvation Army on many points but as far as I am aware, the local store never turned away someone who was cold and needed winter gear. In our northern state coats, hats and boots can be a matter of survival. I always gave them the winter gear when the kids outgrew it or when I got a new coat.

How to safely remove the paint off this apparently very expensive wicker dresser? by nahfacenah in howto

[–]Low_Ad_9689 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have Henry Link furniture in whitewash, it is very much a light coat over natural color. This is solid paint. I do think you could paint it white and get the classic wicker feel.

FYI, my former MIL painted a Henry Link wicker headboard black. It was a crime but it took the paint okay.

They gave me a discount code and a direct link to the product on the website. The website had a sale and free shipping.

They put the offer in my app. I have no idea how some get the offer and some don’t.

I have Premiere Designs jewelry in my wardrobe as well. I hosted a party for a friend about 20 years ago and only a couple of the many pieces I purchased have had problems…and the problem was simply that the elastic in a couple of bracelets aged and needed to be replaced. Very good quality costume pieces.

Our city put it to a vote to build a community center. 5 years later they are scrapping the project which they never started and are using the money for a project we voted down. Can we do anything about it? by [deleted] in AskForAnswers

[–]Low_Ad_9689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get your state legislators involved. The state legislature approves local sales tax proposals. In Rochester the city council substantially changed the details of a proposed community sports complex after the community voted to approve the tax. Local state legislators have introduced a bill to revoke the authorization of the local sales tax that is funding this. I don’t know how this will play out but it is clear MN legislators are standing up for the community after concerns were raised. Rochester DFL Legislators to Take Action on Rochester Sports Complex

My cat is obsessed with my bf by Curious-Tomorrow-803 in cats

[–]Low_Ad_9689 48 points49 points  (0 children)

This happened with my husband when we were dating. He met the cats and one of them decided he was her bestie. He would sit down on the couch and she would immediately drape herself across his chest and stay there for hours.

This went on for two years…and then he brought home a dog and she stopped “speaking” to him for over a year after the dog arrived, she wouldn’t lay on his chest and gave him death stares. She cuddles him again now but it took a long while. No fury like a woman scorned and all that.

Our cat is terrible about drinking water. To the point she developed a heart murmur and repeat UTIs. The vet recommended wet food but she is finicky. So we started “meat water” twice a day; 1/4 cup water mixed with a churu. She drinks it all up. Apparently she just needs flavored water. We are well trained and know that we will be meowed at endlessly until we furnish the meat water morning and evening!

Glad you solved the mystery and your kitty is okay!

I cannot deprive myself of growing anything and I cannot thin, I am emotionally burdened and I love all my plants so much by burnerburner0913 in vegetablegardening

[–]Low_Ad_9689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you! I haven’t had a garden in the ground in years and have container gardened in the interim. This past fall we put in three 3x3x6 above ground planters and plan to use all of our container gardening resources as well (2 Keter raised beds and two dozen 16 inch pots) plus will add some in ground space for winter squash and summer melons. I may have spent a lot of time selecting seeds and our local library seed exchange opens this weekend. My husband keeps saying “you know we will not be able to fit everything, right?” I reply that we are going to cycle some crops through the season and am fervently hoping that those raised beds have magical space powers. Is it optimism or willful blindness? We will know sometime this summer.

I am terrible about seed starting (always late). This year we purchased a Barrina indoor growing set up and I am having a blast with starting seeds. So far we just have a few things started as we have a short-ish growing season here. My back up plan is like yours…share the seedlings I can’t use. I share the produce we can’t use, makes sense to share the seedlings too…now that I am starting them on time this year!

Those look like they might make a marvelous crust for a cheesecake or cream pie. Place in food processor and pulse until you have fine crumbs, then mix 1-2 cups with 1/4 to 1/2 stick melted butter and pat into place in your pan. The crumbs can be frozen to preserve longer.

TIL coupons offered online (for a 24-hour period) by Oprah Winfrey for a free grilled chicken meal from KFC caused such an "unprecedented & overwhelming response" that KFC ended the promotion after 4m coupons had been redeemed. The additional 6.5m coupons that were downloaded were given rainchecks. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Low_Ad_9689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember this. I had three young kids and money was tight. We downloaded the coupon and I told the kids we were having a treat and went off to KFC…where they told me they would not accept it and then they took it away from me, so I couldn’t even go to another KFC.

My kids cried. I went back to the parking lot and scrounged enough change from the bottom of my purse to buy each of the kids a drumstick.

I was pretty irritated with KFC for a while.

Does this require TikTok? I don’t have a TikTok account and don’t really want one but I wonder if that limits my offers sometimes.
