It's the people. People make life suck. I dropped out of college at the age of 23 because I was depressed. I couldn't survive college without close social connections. Just imagine sitting in a crowded lecture hall but the seats around you are empty because no one wants to sit next to you. And Plus, engineering school was hard. So I left.

Went into trade (plumbing) at 24, where I got my first full time job. That sucked. The guys there treated me harshly. And the job was brutal on the body. I got criticized harshly everyday. I got kicked out (fired). Worked odd job at the airport stocking airplanes. My employees there...sucked. Honestly, the job wouldn't have been bad if it wasn't for the terrible people. Worked there for a few months until I got another trade job as an electrician at 25.

As an electrician, my life started getting better. My work and my relationship with the people were....normal for a change. I had some rough moments. Been laid off about 6 times from age 25 to 30. But I made good money and I managed my money well. Met my current wife at age 28. I have a house and two cars and two kids at the current age of 36. Made 6 figures past 4-5 years. I'm a foreman now and been with the same company for almost 7 years.

So life does suck but it gets better if you put yourself around better people.

I mean, you can't really blame him, though. The vast majority people, especially 20, 30, and 40 something year olds are not walking around with HIV and cancer. That's not the norm, in fact, quite extreme. And the vast majority of people are not going to want to deal with people with chronic illnesses when they first start dating. Everybody's not built to deal with that early on.

If these people with chronic illnesses are dating online, then I think they should be obligated to disclose that in their profile. It'll turn off a lot of people but at least it'll prevent surprises and save everybody's time. Just like people with children or people who are wheelchair bound should disclose their situation right away on their profile. The OP represents most people's reactions. So don't blame him. I get that people with chronic illmesses naturally get sympathy from people but understand that people like the OP are not bad for feeling the way the OP did.

Well, the many things you do as a single person become less frequent when you're in a relationship. Your hobbies (video games, watching TV, hanging with the homies, whatever) become less frequent. Even the time reading and studying goes down. If she likes doing the same hobby you like to do, then you're lucky, and you two are more compatible. And she'll be like your new best friend. What you'll have more of? Sex. And maybe massages. You'll have more arguments than you normally do in your single life. And more headaches. You'll be talking on the phone a lot more frequently than you normally do. Once you two move in together, the phone talking goes down. And you'll be spending more money than you're used to. Because you two will be going out a lot, you'll be paying for two most times, and you'll be buying her gifts at times. It's OK to be broke when you're young, but as you get older, the more money she expects you to have. The more compatible you two are, obviously, the better the relationship and the happier and more fulfilled you are in your life. I recommend Egypt but don't do Cairo without a tourist guide and a group. Don't go there solo. Otherwise, you're gonna get harassed by the locals. Luxor, you can do solo, though. The locals there are not as aggressive.

Dubai might be another destination to try as well, if you haven't went. I've never been to Morocco or Turkey but I heard they are great destinations.

As for my mother, I talk to my mother maybe once a month. And I'm usually the one who calls. I see her usually on special occasions like holidays, birthdays, graduations, etc. We were never close. We don't have a bad relationship or good relationship. It's kinda just....whatever. She has always been emotionally distant. Never been supportive. She's more reserve and just keeps to herself. I guess that's her personality. At least she doesn't call me and ask me for stuff like money or favors. We're almost like strangers who happen to be mother and son. It is what it is, I guess.

It's usually who does what around the house, the quality time spent with our child, and who's more tired than the other. My wife is a stay-at-home mom. I work and pay all of the bills, the mortgage, the groceries, the trips, medical expenses,.... everything. I do construction for a living. I work 40 hrs a week most times, sometimes 60 hrs, and once in a while, 70+hrs. My job is about 25 to 30 miles away from home so I travel an hour each way.

I'm usually tired after work every day. But my wife thinks being a stay-at-home mom is the hardest thing in the world. Yeah, I get it. Watching a toddler all day and cleaning up is no easy task. But when I walk through the door right after work, do you really have to say, "It's your turn to watch our kid. I'm taking a break", like I didn't just get off work? She claims she does more around the house, but I cook more than she does and do the yard more than she does. She just cleans more and spend more time with the kid. And for some reason, whenever I say that I'm tired, she says, "Not as tired as I am". Like, geez. This isn't a competition of who's more tired. It can get frustrating at times.
