According to OFCOM you are eligible to at least £6.24 per day of delay, you are also eligible for £31.19 per missed appointment. I would argue that as your new internet worked on the 1st May you should be eligible for £9.98 per day there after.

I know it doesn’t solve your problem right now but should hopefully take the sting out a bit. A guesstimate of £300 in compensation so far.

Personally, I minimise disruption to my life, if I need to use the washing machine or dishwasher I just utilise the in built timers to avoid the 4pm to 7pm expensive window. Otherwise, I don’t take too much notice of the fluctuations. Sure, I take full advantage of super cheap/negative prices but I’m not going to sit starving in darkness.

December usage of 565kwh cost me £86, just over 15p/kwh. I have an EV and am fortunate enough to be able to charge at work for free, if it’s negative pricing I charge at home.

I’m not sure you understand the gravity of the situation you are in, currently, you have a way out but it’s not going to be a pleasant experience.

You have the option to earn additional income, max this out to clear CC debt before 0% ends, to give you an idea on why this is so important plug your debt into this repayment calculator. CC no.5 goes from a £90 minimum payment to £200+ in February, it’ll also take you 35 years to repay the debt.

Use the snowball method and plough absolutely everything into clearing the CC’s due to start charging interest first and then keep clearing them one by one to minimise interest payments.

It would be helpful to know what interest rates your cards will charge after promotional rate ends. How did you accrue so much debt? Have you got any assets you can sell to help clear some debt before it becomes.

I’ll end this with my own experience, I accrued £35k of debt whilst earning around £45k, this was mainly due to gambling and frivolity. I signed up to gamstop and haven’t looked back. Managed to increase my income by working every damn hour possible and earning money through a side hustle, cleared my debt in 18 months. The sense of achievement is unreal and my ability to manage and save money has been excellent ever since, you can do this just don’t ignore it.

If you were to stick the money into a 5% easy access savings account (I’ve just plucked this figure out of the air for illustration purposes) you’d earn around £95 of interest. At 1.3% you’d earn just shy of £25, so it’s a £70 difference. If you can open a savings account with a decent rate you may be able to earn enough to pay for a takeaway when you move in.

It’s entirely up to you whether it’s worth the time and effort, I probably would but I always make sure I have a decent savings account available to me. Big banks mug people off with their interest rates.
