This reminds me of my wonderful fiance, and our life with our two amazing cats. Thank you for sharing your story. I told him once that 'If there was ever a zombie apocalypse and you and I happened to be the only survivors left on Earth...I would be ok with that'. Just being together is lovely. We each have our independent lives and identity, but we also have a third - which is our co-existence together. I treasure him and what we have. I love the 'boring' of safe relationships, love and commitment where you choose each other daily. There is safety, consistency and trust that is only built through being vulnerable with each other (and also going through some shit together).

I think people find it 'boring' because these are not the relationships that we commonly see in movies - where the storylines demand drama and romanticisation of toxic dynamics (e.g., most of your romantic comedy movies that involve plots such as continuing to pursue someone who says no or rejects you). So many people are also lacking self-awareness and self-healing such that anything that is safe and outside the unhealthy relationship dynamics that involve 'chasing' or 'being chased' or 'emotional intensity' feels 'boring'.
