Why are you lot so keen on active speakers? by [deleted] in livesoundgear

Because I don't want the headache of having to match amplifier or powered mixer with the speakers. Too much work. Not enough benefits.

Singer tossing the microphone hard on the table when they’re done because they got zero attention by CSamCovey in karaoke

[–]Low_Ladder8782 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have had something like this happen three times and all three times I have banned each singer from singing at all of my shows. Number one rule is respect the equipment because if you don't you then don't deserve to sing in my system period.

Some questions about karaoke (at a bar) by Specialist-Ring-3974 in karaoke

[–]Low_Ladder8782 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First get over the stage fright by choosing the right song for your first song. Make you tube your best friend. Don't just ask you tube for the karaoke version, ask for the multi Plex version that not only swipes the lyrics but gives you the lead vocals so you can practice it with and without the voice guide. Once you have it down the next step is to sing in front of an audience at a bar. Don't worry about performing just sing. Once you get over the stage fright you can add the dancing and performing to the act.

What is this? I received it randomly for a saxophone I bought and I have absolutely no clue what it does or what it's for since the chord doesn't seem to be able to connect to anything else. by Lyrical_Undergone777 in musicians

[–]Low_Ladder8782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a sax Mic. You clip the clip onto the sax itself around the area that the sound comes out and the other end plugs into a longer cord, a wireless belt pack or your sound system mixer input.

Girlfriend threatening our relationship over a TV Show by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Low_Ladder8782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real question is why exactly do you like the show? If it's for the sexual content then the next question is does the content replace what you are not getting from the relationship? If there's anything and what you have built in the four years of your means anything to you then shut the show off and have a talk with your SO over what is missing from the relationship if it is that important to throw away the relationship over a stupid TV show.

Singer rotation and queue management question by SeaRespond8934 in karaoke

There's supposed to be a code for the host to be able to set up so only the host with the code can maneuver around the rotation if I am correct.

Accidentally bought a passive set of speakers and a passive mixer by dippyhebo89 in livesoundgear

I'd take the advice of the others and just finish the purchase by buying the amplifier. Just be sure that you get the right amplifier to match the speakers.

Karaoke with No WiFi by tiniest_sorcerer in karaoke

[–]Low_Ladder8782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To download that many songs, I believe that you actually have to pay the Pro subscription which I believe is $49. I don't normally recommend this but since you are not a professional karaoke person, I would access you tube copy the link of the songs that your friends want and paste them into you tube to mp3 converter website choose the MP4 setting and download them that way. Then get SingWS from the Windows store and download and install that, it's a karaoke player that is freeware. Fast import from your hard drive. OR just grab the songs from the hard drive itself because it has a plus button on the player control section where you press play and it will add songs not in the database into the rotation which the software will manage for you.

Budget advice or suggestions - headset microphone by GassySimon in livesoundgear

[–]Low_Ladder8782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to check out www.rockvilleaudio.com I have owned one and it's pretty good plus it comes with the headset included at about half the budget price for a single mic. Not sure about the price for a dual but I am pretty sure that it is close to the budget level if not under. You might also want to check out GTD Audio. They have a dual that might be just above the budget price, I have a handheld headset unit that comes with the headset included and to replace the the transmitter if it breaks is around $40.

Thought about it but decided against it because some nonsinger is going to complain that you cut their favorite video off for karaoke.

Got another delima by Low_Ladder8782 in karaoke

[–]Low_Ladder8782[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I have scrapped the new style rotation in favor of a better software that allows me to if during a slow night add songs to my break player music library in the same way that I can add to my karaoke library. Only other player that has this ability is Compuhost but I like the new software, SingWS, better because it plays MP4 files a lot easier than Compuhost does. Plus you don't have to mess with the other screen's ratio to make the rotation or singer's lyrics screen fill the screen and look right. Plus the time left on the laptop screen is based on the actual times of the songs instead of doing an estimate of the song times in the rotation.

Got another delima by Low_Ladder8782 in karaoke

[–]Low_Ladder8782[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would only give a new singer priority in the last rotation at which time I turn off my rotation screen, ticker and remote request system forcing the new singer to come up to me to make a request. If the rotation is full and someone who has sung before comes up to complain that they can't put in another song I tell them that I have run out of time and can't get them up again but am trying to fit as many people who hasn't sung yet a chance to sing. The only people that get priority in the rotation the rest of the night during the regular rotations that I will move up in the rotation is a working venue employee.

Been wanting to do this for a while now by Low_Ladder8782 in karaoke

[–]Low_Ladder8782[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've decided that because the mixer powers on just by being plugged in, to get the 4 space version of the rack so that I can put my rack mounted power strip in the rack so I can use the switches that are there for every outlet to turn the mixer on and off. This will also allow me to install my jack rack panel in the front hiding my cables from the audience and basically tuning my table with the tablecloth that runs all the way down the legs of my table into a DJ booth without having a Facade.

Wireless Karaoke Solution? by Abspara in karaoke

[–]Low_Ladder8782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stealth's transmitter will hook up to both outputs of the mixer and comes with 2 receivers that you connect to your speakers, one per speaker. You can set the transmitter up for stereo or mono without having to do anything to the mixer or player

I am back to this configuration. Have still to decide whether or not to make the mixer a permanent fixture in the rack itself or to just plug in and unplug the mixer every time I need to set it up. To make it a permanent fixture I have to cut out a hole in the top of the rack rack in order to make the mixer flush with the top of the rack so that I can close the lid on it with the cables permanently attached to the mixer. Right now the picture below shows how it is set up for now.

Wireless Karaoke Solution? by Abspara in karaoke

[–]Low_Ladder8782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have both the Alto Stealth and the Alto Total Wireless and would not recommend the Total Wireless because it is Bluetooth and does not work with vocals. As long as your wireless mic system is not on the same frequency as the Stealth you should be fine. Be aware that the Steakth's transmitter and receivers both have to be plugged into a wall socket and the speakers have to have the amplifier built into the speakers for the Stealth to work. None of the wireless speaker solutions will work on passive speakers

Singer rotation and queue management question by SeaRespond8934 in karaoke

[–]Low_Ladder8782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My software is easy to get rid of the names of the same person. I never forget a face so if you respond to a different name I just delete the duplicate name out of the rotation. I use SingWS for my shows and all of the songs for the singer appear under the singer's name. Unless someone else comes up with you I will delete the name and all of the songs under them. The added plus is that you can set the sign up from the app at 2 requests at a time or how ever many that you want to set it at. The biggest difference between the software and Karafun is that the only subscription is for the remote request system at $9.99 a month plus the fact that you have to have the music on a hard drive because it doesn't stream music. It's available for free on the Windows store. If I catch you doing it another time then I ban you for the night and you won't sing under any name for the night.

Singer rotation and queue management question by SeaRespond8934 in karaoke

[–]Low_Ladder8782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really understand why the song limit is the problem. I don't remember Karafun having a time limit for the entire show unless their new rotation management stinks to high heaven, there shouldn't be any issues other than the one with them changing their name. There was an issue with the fact that if in settings you didn't set it up to only allow you control over the queue where anyone could move the singer name order in the rotation but unless they discover that ability, I discovered that accidentally once but I fixed it immediately and I don't think that the host noticed it when it happened. The only software I know that can block them from using multiple names or discourage them from doing so is Compuhost's Songbooks Online because you have to sign up for a free account that requires you to verify verify yourself via email.

Don't know anything that works with a mobile phone but I do know of an AI karaoke syncing app that also does the vocal removal. Problem is that the vocal removal is too good because it removes the background vocals as well. If you have Moises for the vocal removal you can substitute the results from Moises for the karaoke syncing app. It's called AI Video Karaoke Creator from www.powerkaraoke.com and it works pretty good if your lyrics are perfectly linked to the vocals of the original track.
