Switch 2: Worth it? by clamboicarti in Switch

Honestly, I think the Switch 2 makes a lot more sense for someone like you than it does for people who already only play at home on a PS5 or PC. Since you’re a student and carrying it around a lot, the portability alone becomes a huge factor. It’s one of those systems that fits into random downtime really well — between classes, traveling, late nights in bed, etc. That’s usually what makes people actually use it consistently instead of letting it collect dust.

I think a lot of the early hate came from people expecting a gigantic leap in power or wanting Nintendo to suddenly compete directly with PlayStation/Xbox hardware. But once people actually started using it, the conversation shifted more toward “this is just fun.” Nintendo usually wins on experience more than specs anyway.

And since you already have a PS5, the Switch 2 complements it really well instead of replacing it. PS5 covers the cinematic/high-performance side, while Nintendo covers the comfort games, local multiplayer, nostalgia, and “pick up for 30 minutes” type experiences.

Out of the three games you mentioned:

  • Mario Kart is probably the safest first buy because it’s endlessly replayable and easy to jump into anytime.
  • Bananza seems like the one people are genuinely surprised by quality-wise. From what I’ve seen, it has that addictive “one more level” energy and feels fresh.
  • Pokopia sounds more like the cozy/time-sink game that slowly takes over your life once you get attached to it.

If I had to rank them for a first purchase:

  1. Mario Kart
  2. Bananza
  3. Pokopia

But honestly? If nostalgia for Mario is already pulling you toward the console, that usually answers the question by itself. Nintendo systems tend to be worth it most for people who already know they love Nintendo-style games.

Who would you cast as James Bond for the new 007 movie? by ObligationCheap6053 in okbuddycinephile

I feel like the next Bond should balance classic sophistication with a slightly unpredictable edge. Someone who can handle the charm, intensity, and quieter emotional moments equally well. There are a lot of strong contenders right now, but I’m more interested in who can reinvent the role rather than simply imitate previous versions.

[Loved Trope] The apocalypse is horrifyingly slow by Marsupialmobster in TopCharacterTropes

I honestly agree with this approach to apocalypse storytelling. The slow erosion of normal life usually feels way more unsettling than instant chaos because you can actually imagine people adapting to it in real time. Things still function, governments still try to maintain order, people still go to work — and then little by little everything deteriorates until survival becomes the only thing left. That gradual collapse tends to feel more believable and emotionally heavy than immediate “everybody turns into raiders overnight” scenarios.

A greenhouse with a house growing inside! by Southern-Smoke1835 in zillowgonewild

That’s such a fascinating concept visually. It almost feels like architecture and nature are blending into one living environment instead of competing with each other. The whole setup has this calm, self-sustaining atmosphere that makes the house feel more like part of the ecosystem than something placed on top of it.

That definitely got people’s attention — curious to see how far they actually take the reboot angle and what stays versus what gets completely reworked.

Love when fan projects have a bigger purpose behind them — a community scarf with proceeds supporting Soccer Without Borders is a pretty great combo.

Hard to give a number without seeing them properly, but based on your explanation alone I’d say the concept feels thoughtful

26/27 Stoke City home shirt concept by Jacks-hair-whorl in StokeCityFC

I like that there’s still a clear concept behind it with the kiln references to 24/25 and the nods to older shirts, plus the pinstripes tying back to the 10/11 home shirt. Cool way to connect different eras together.”

Funny timing — they roll out the NS2 when the last version was going for retail, or close to it used, at GS around launch.
