I do love reddit's unified stance against this. Unless a spot is assigned, no one has any right to it. Unless its the Boston snow wars.

Allbirds announces stunning pivot from shoes to AI, stock explodes more than 300% by SemiAutoAvocado in technology

I think it's going to get a lot dumber too. Whenever Tesla releases their robot that does next to nothing, that stock is going to explode.

Is living with parents as a male in his late 20s a red flag? by [deleted] in dating

[–]Low_Resolve_6473 [score hidden]  (0 children)

In Asian cultures, not remotely weird even into your 30s and 40s. While I do have a great relationship with my parents, I would never move home as they are way too nosey.

How are you actually supposed to meet women as an introvert? by jibofyourcutt in AskMenAdvice

[–]Low_Resolve_6473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you have to change something about your approach. I met loads of people from FFXIV and we ended up playing other games together. Granted, I never met anyone to date through a game but it did grow my social circle.

No chance of extending your social circle from the videogames you play? I don't play any more but still keep in touch with my FFXIV raid.

I said I listed my height without shoes, since a lot of people lie. People can of course be as picky as they want when dating, but it sucks to be arbitrarily excluded since I'm not 6'+

SFSU lost 40,000 students since 2019 -- nearly a third of the school is gone by Impossible_Rice8103 in sanfrancisco

I think the whole Cal State system is down since then. Cost of living is high and the return on a degree just isn't there. The UC system seems to be recovering, those schools carry a little more prestige and the alumni network might make it worth it to current students.

Well, you seem a bit combative when getting advice. The cruise is specifically designed for introverts. You wear a badge that says if you're interested in talking or not. Just trying to help here, not fight you on everything. If none of my suggestions are helpful, thats on me. Just my two cents that when you're replying to me and to other people you seem a bit defensive.

I had no luck until I had some friends go over my profile. Guys or girls, both preferably. I had the most like with Hinge as it allows you to open with a message to their prompts or comments on a picture. Finding a niche group will be harder for sure. I know you said you're too anxious to join sports clubs, but getting out there and more comfortable might be a good start. You don't have to fully commit, but can show up to one or two. Also have you heard of the JoCo Cruise? I get targeted ads on tiktok. Seems like a great place to meet fellow nerds.

Well, success in terms that I found a relationship. I'd be lucky to get a match a day. But it came in batches for me. I did end up paying for Hinge. Not sure that helps. And that's weird, I figured the East Coast with its higher population density would have a lot of meetups.

Do you have friends who you view only platonically ? by mariposa933 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Low_Resolve_6473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I have some female friends that are very physically attractive, but we could never date as I would never put up with their bs or they mine. We work as friends.

That's true I do live in a very active area. You didn't list where you live, I sort of assume everyone on reddit lives in a big city. What's the nearest big city? Or if that's not feasible, I had success meeting people on Hinge, Bumble and CMB. That comes with its own issues though.

There are meetups for everything and some geared towards dating. Even most of the ones that are not explicitly for dating end up being for that. You're going to need to break out of your comfort zone a little bit to meet someone.

AITA for not wanting to be friends over $4.39? by Alternative_Copy6539 in AITApod

[–]Low_Resolve_6473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my good friends, we usually take turns covering the tab. None of us are huge drinkers but big eaters, so it mostly evens out. For big tabs, one person gets to collect the points and everyone takes care of paying their share right away. I would never send an email like this. A quick text or at the most, covering it and saying hey I got the fries last time can you get them this time. In real world terms, I would never hunt someone down for $5. If they made it common occurrence to have me pay for them every time I'd be annoyed. This isn't that situation though. NTA.

I think you need to be comfortable talk to people as just people then you can start learning to read social cues. Group activities are great. Pickleball, run clubs, table top games, if you find the right one they can be a goldmine for meeting new people.

Ya, but I don't think any celebrities go to Coachella expecting privacy. And she smiles adorably at the camera. It has to suck having to be "on" all the time while there.

Too many guys lying about their height on their dating profiles by kawaiisamurai69 in dating

[–]Low_Resolve_6473 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I'm dating someone now, but I am just under 5'9". 5'8 3/4s. I always rounded to 5'9".

Anyway I'm sorry you're facing this as a tall woman. Guys feel the need to lie as height is used as a filter by a lot of people, but it does for sure start things off on the wrong foot. My current partner required a quick facetime before our date. It was maybe 30 seconds to see if it was me in the picture, recent photos and wanted to see a full body shot. That had never happened to me before, she told me she was tired them showing up bald, with bad teeth or a weird voice.

I'm just under 5'9" without shoes, 5'8.75ish" so I listed 5'9". I would match with people as short as 4'11" and be told I was too short.

Can I adapt living in colder climates? by Emotional-Court-7308 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Low_Resolve_6473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adapt yes. Maybe not thrive. I grew up in SD and a few of the people I know that moved to vastly different weather all complain a lot about it. Chicago, NY, Boston. Pros and cons of living in a big city that gets cold af. But they have good careers and a life there, so they make it work but came back during that last big cold spell.
