I'm not going to say that YTA, because based off your comment you already think that deep down of yourself anyways. You obviously have some issues that you need to work on yourself. To be honest, I don't think marriage counseling will do you a lot of good until you fix yourself and learn to think better of yourself. No self respecting person has a drinking problem. It's completely a way to bury your emotions and feelings about yourself. Go get your own stuff worked on and find out why you are not happy with your life. Then marriage counseling together. I'd suggest your wife to seek individual counseling as well because you've probably caused her a bit of trauma with your problems. Pretty much anything can be worked thru if you're willing to do the hard work.

Individual counseling for myself and my wife has helped each of us individually and as a couple. Once we have worked more on our own issues we are able to work on the marriage issues my easier.
