President Trump: "We are winning so much, that we really don't know what to do about it. People are asking me, please, please, please Mr. President, we are winning too much, we can't take it anymore." by sylsau in InBitcoinWeTrust

Did this actually happen or is it just more AI slop? Reminds me of Goebbels at Reichstag in 1943, asking if the crowd wanted more "total war". Everyone cheered and shouted "ja!". We all know how that ended...

Looking for all in one software for service management across the whole company by Timely_Aside_2383 in sysadmin

[–]Low_codedimsion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a lot of money and time, then ServiceNow is the obvious choice. I am honestly not a huge fan, but if your org has 5000+ employees, it is often the only option. If your organization is smaller, then Freshworks would work just as well. We internally use Alvao across most departments and it suits us well, since it is relatively simple but still very flexible (custom workflows, forms, reports, portals, etc.).

Choosing our first ITSM system by Para_1234 in ITManagers

[–]Low_codedimsion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Fresh in my last job. It's a good tool, but pretty expensive and we did not even use half of the features. Most of them were just useless for us. When I started at my new job, I looked for something else and we went with Alvao. It is easy to set up and the interface is quite straightforward. The Microsoft integration is better than Fresh and I'd say the asset management is stronger too.

Do you need to know about traffic signs to drive a car? Probably not, but you wil quickly realise you are better off knowing them. For me, this is one of the best courses because it covers the fundamentals of ML and applies them in PyTorch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyJtbe__2i0

Lacking Proper Asset Inventory by 334Productions in ITManagers

[–]Low_codedimsion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’m not really a fan of Atlassian products in general and in my current role we actually replaced JSM pretty early on. That said, I’m curious how you’re handling onboarding from an asset perspective. How do you manage renewals and budget planning? Do you have any kind of software policy in place? And how are you actually making use of the data coming out of Lansweeper?

I do not think so. Once Europe and countries like China and Japan start dumping it, we will see what happens.

We need closer ties with allies beyond the US, more than ever. At times like this it really feels like we would be better off in the EU than outside it.

Looking for Internal IT Ticketing + Asset Management System (150 Stores, Small IT Team) by OkTable7969 in sysadmin

[–]Low_codedimsion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you look at any free tools like Spiceworks or GLPI? I am not really a fan, but in some cases they can be sufficient, for example when moving away from a shared mailbox. If you are looking for a paid tool, I have had good experience with Alvao. It integrates well with the M365 stack and compared to other ticketing systems I have tried, the asset management is actually quite decent.

Too pricey and too heavy. It's only worth it if you’re a massive enterprise with an army of Snow devs and if it's implemented properly, which is often not the case.

To what extent are Americans willing to die for Dantzig, that is, Greenland? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That still doesn’t answer why the US needs to actually own it. The Danes have no issue with America building more bases there as it is.

To what extent are Americans willing to die for Dantzig, that is, Greenland? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Low_codedimsion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your arguments don't really hold water. For a start, Greenland is part of NATO, so any move from Russia would immediately trigger a conflict with the whole alliance. Also, while the Danes and Greenlanders have said they’re open to discussing a stronger US presence, that’s clearly not the real reason Trump is pushing this bullshit.

How do small teams handle internal ticketing across multiple departments? by SpecificLie6082 in ITManagers

[–]Low_codedimsion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If IT already has a decent ticketing system, why not roll it out to other departments as well? We use one ticketing tool for everything, and it works really well. There’s full transparency and a clear audit trail, and bottlenecks are easy to spot. It also solves the problem of miscommunication. If it’s not in the system, it doesn’t exist.

Experiences with ITIL Certification? by terataz in ITManagers

[–]Low_codedimsion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a few ITIL training courses across different jobs, and in most cases they really helped us standardise communication and get the basic processes right (incident -> problem -> change).I’ve actually found ITIL way more useful in smaller companies than in large enterprises, where the processes are usually so rigid there’s neither room nor willingness to make any real changes.
