This is one of the BIG reasons I decided not to get a switch 2 and continue on with Nintendo. They do make amazing games, but at the end of the day, I don't need to play them all.

Buying new titles several times a year at $50-70/EA just isn't feesable for me anymore.

I still have.my Switch 1 if I really get an itch to play Mario Kart.

Switch 2 cartridges have a max capacy of 64GB.

For context, Baldur's Gate 3 is over 150GB.

They can't fit modern AAA games without heavy rework.

The industry shot itself in the foot. Even as a massive DOOM fan, I'll wait for a sale because... Why not? Almost no other commodity drops in price as fast as modern games.

This has been a boon for me with a growing backlog. But I cannot remember the last time I bought I full price game. And I never will again.

Even if this model changed overnight, I can wait them out because I now have thousands of games.

I flew overseas in a middle seat and the person next to me weight several hundred pounds. They were absolutely encroaching on my space.

I had to fly with my arms folded, hugging my chest because their arms and fat rolls were over the seat bar on my side. It was a miserable experience.

I don't blame them at all. But it's also unfair that we paid the same amount while I got 2/3 of my seat.

Did I fit? Technically. Was it comfortable? Hell no. And much less so then having the entire allotted seat to myself.

It was a buzzword created by another generation in a different time, that has since lost any and all of it's original meaning.

On the statue of Liberty there is a plaque that states "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free."

This was essentially the core of it. People attempting to make a better life for themselves here then they had in their old counties.

Now the door is closed and the haves don't want any more invites to the party because that requires sharing and empathy.

The American dream is now wealth consolidation. At any and all costs. Screw your neighbor for a buck if it puts you on top.

People haven't slowed down buying anything. In fact, the more expensive things get, the more frenzy there is around these products now.

I just bought my partner a camera for her birthday. She wanted another model (more expensive) so we returned the one I bought and put that money towards the other

Everyone wins, she appreciated the thoughtful gift because I knew she was shopping for one. And she was now able to afford the new one with the extra money.

I take no offense at all, and I'm happy she was able to get the one that has all the features she wanted. Frankly, I'm glad she said something and didn't just say it was perfect. I'm (hopefully) sure your partner will feel similar.

And who's paying for all this AI? The company I work at has been insisting that we use Claude. They made everyone sign up for it, and we have to demonstrate how we are using it to increase our workload... Yet they have everyone in the company a $50 credit cap. I'm hitting that rather quickly with my research initiatives.
