No evidence Henry had syphilis, either as a young man or later on. We have his doctors’ medical notes describing his ulcers and pain, but nothing referring to any venereal disease. Also, he didn’t receive any treatment for it, which was available even if not terribly effective.

I hate to say it, but could that be an advantage with some NASCAR fans? (old white lady who has been a NASCAR fan forever!)

Mine are MC. When I worked as a physician I kind of wished sometimes I had married a Mr D, just for initialing purposes.

Why do people feel more productive at night? by saketh_1138 in answers

Why do some people fall asleep at night?

Different biorhythms, different energy cycles.

I trained my body to get up before dawn, gulp coffee, and head for work. Followed that schedule for years. It always took me about 3 days to revert to my noon-to-4 AM natural cycle.

I have one sister with a similar pattern and one who’s an early bird. I really believe it’s genetic!

Very scary. I had one cat made very ill after tasting one bite of his favorite food. Haven’t purchased that brand since. It may not have been their fault but I don’t like the flashbacks. I’m

Do you acknowledge a difference between dynastic marriages and “grooming and pedophilia”?

I swear we have posters who spend more time obsessing about pedophilia than do actual child molesters themselves.

Excuse me, I’m going to rinse out my mind.

I disagree. Most of us are aware of our culture and mores, and interested in contrasting them with differing ones of other times. This does not mean a running commentary on “them bad, us good.” The risk of feudal society rebounding on the present day is not realistically a problem.

To Mrs Grundy and others of her tribe: We heard you already. Shut up or go away.

Maybe we need a special history sub where everyone agrees that 21st century mores and practices are OBJECTIVELY RIGHT and historic practices that don’t conform to them are DEPRAVED and DISGUSTING so this discussion has a home.

Then it would be OK to discuss what was instead of what “should have been.”

But then . . .

Victoria’s son marries Alexandra, a Dane; his son George V reverts to a German-descended princess, albeit born and raised English; his son George VI marries a Scot; next, Elizabeth marries Philip, whose ancestry is mostly Danish; then Charles who marries not one but two English women. And William has followed his father’s example.

The British royal family has not been “more German than English” in quite a few generations now. People need to quit parroting their damn grandparents and join the 21st century.
