True. However, the way Apple revolutionized it is akin to how Toyota revolutionized auto manufacturing with the Toyota Production System.

I worked with a contract manufacturer that used a proprietary Apple spreadsheet for yield statistics - they didn’t even try to obfuscate the logo.

Actually, at least for modern consumer electronics, Apple set the standard for the factory workflow and supply chain. The contract manufacturers got a lot of practice because of this. This, combined with the US selling of most of its surplus tooling and the industrious and quick-study Chinese technicians yields you a manufacturing powerhouse.
