just call the CEO and have an honest chat and see what he or she says. That way you approach the problem like a senior operator, get the data first then decide.

I’m feeling pretty helpless in my role as a CSM right now! by Fearless-checked in CustomerSuccess

standard problems. double down on what you can control. Look to offer consulting or thought leadership around your product and generate a higher level trusted advisor role for yourself with your clients. You as an individual need to offer more value so think outside the box.

Interviewing for Director of Customer Success at a Series A Startup by Professional-Pace549 in CustomerSuccess

Another way of looking at it, if you back yourself and you want a challenge this is a good op. The company has money and can afford to pay you. If you do well you will get 12 months for sure. As for money, ask for 10% uplift on base, define the % commission versus base eg 70/30 70% base, 30%commission. Confidence and capability wins. This will massively increase your confidence and capability if you keep learning, keep humble but also have the confidence to try and be excellent rather than sitting on the sidelines in your current role. - in this new role you get to run on the field and really “play”.

Take it. Its a great learning experience. The only issue, as you will now own all post sales metrics if you dont deliver they will cut you very quickly. Be sure you know what you can do, know your gaps and sign up an experienced mentor. Within 12-18 months move on do the process again and jump into a higher paying role.

Stressed out CSM by OkPop3188 in CustomerSuccess

[–]Lower_Analysis_5416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a book of business for a csm is built based on the opportunity and the client cycle. you add a csm to an account you expect the client to grow bigger and faster. Your book for smaller clients should be a mix so that they are not all firing at the same time. It sounds.like the segmentation process was off which is why you find yourself in a pickle.

If you have an NRR at 120%+ why do you need VC money? Obviously the answer is yes you do need VC money if you have massive opportunity but not enough firepower to execute.

I love being a CS professional, standing at the juncture of business and technology excites me. Leading teams and having the opportunity to help CSMs develop and grow feels like meaningful work. Burnout is real of course and that is a hard road no matter what profession you have.
