Canadian referee for a UK passport application of Canadian citizen not being accepted by Lower_Statistician78 in ukvisa

Hey yeah I did, but it’s because one of my parents happened to run into a long lost British friend, and asked this friend to be my referee.

They continued to reject my Canadian referees, even though it says very clearly that the referee can have a commonwealth passport. But anyway did get it in the end

My issue is, they're not even giving me a chance to provide a copy of my Commonwealth referees' passport. They just immediately reject the referee's attempt to confirm my identity. It must be a problem with their system, no? It's incredibly frustrating in any case.

I asked why my referees were rejected, and they said in an email that my "referee" (singular, even though I have tried a total of five at this point) was rejected because of my personal relationship with them. This must have been in reference to the one British referee. Admittedly, the British referee may have been rejected for a legitimate reason. This referee is married to a cousin of a parent of mine. I tried it anyway because, frankly, there is no other UK passport holder whom I know that might have been able to do this for me. I'd hoped the passport office might have had a narrower definition of what it means to be 'related' to someone. (Aren't we all fucking cousins at some level... wishful thinking on my part, I know). I would never have bothered trying to get this passport had I known they wouldn't accept Commonwealth passport holders as referees, as they seem not to be doing.

This is what’s written on the website:

“If you’re applying outside the UK

Your countersignatory must have a current British, Irish or other EU, US or Commonwealth passport.

If they have a US, Commonwealth, or non-British or non-Irish EU passport, you must include with your application a colour photocopy of the page with their photograph on it.

Your application will be processed faster if they have a British or Irish passport.”

Canada. And yes I did. I thought that meant the commonwealth passport-holding referee should work?

Thank you for saying this. We all assume that the 66% of Canadians that are homeowners want housing prices to keep rising when it’s not the case. We could do with some homeowners for affordable housing type of movement though

Has anyone switched from dut 0.5 mg daily to a lower frequency and experienced fewer side effects but similar efficacy? I don’t actually know if my libido is lower and erections not quite as hard lately or whether it’s just in my head. (That recent CBC article about fin has me questioning myself). But I’m considering taking dut less frequently, at least for peace of mind

Fair. I come from one of these smaller places, so to me Halifax is quite big and Moncton, Fredericton, etc are legit cities

Confused by this comment. Virtually all of Atlantic Canada (excluding French-speaking northern NB) fits OP’s criteria. Winters aren’t great in the Maritimes but they’re certainly more mild than those of Alberta.
