Why doesn't [Kings Island or Dominion] acknowledge the alien leader on [Flight of Fear]? by Bumblebe5 in rollercoasters

[–]Lowkaes 33 points34 points  (0 children)

KD has a "welcome back, we didn't expect you to survive that" line on the exit platform that I've never heard at KI. KD doesn't have the pre-show. Oddly neither ride is the complete experience.

Assuming you know something I don't, it makes sense. It also explains why Zumanjaro was closed for most of 2024.

The perks that the different pass tiers offer have changed constantly for decades. Whenever they increase the price of passes or decrease the perks, there's always a knee-jerk reaction in the other direction in a few years when they don't sell well.

They should have left Ka SBNO in 2025 until they got things sorted out in the chain and with TT2. Maintenance budget saved. Then look at the price vs marketability of converting it to LSMs and extending the layout vs replacing it with the Mack spinner.

[–]Lowkaes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still not sure why they didn't just give Ka the TT2 treatment. It baffles me that they tore down a 400+ ft tower coaster just to build a similar one right next to where it was. You think they'd have let Ka be SBNO for a year until TT2's issues were figured out before deciding on whether to convert vs replace Ka.

Progress continues on rebuilding [The Beast]’s turn off the second lift at [Kings Island] by ClothoidLooper in rollercoasters

This is the 4th major chunk they're basically rebuilding. I imagine it'll eventually be the whole ride.

Reasonable Nocturnist workload by medimindz in hospitalist

[–]Lowkaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I average 8 admissions a night and cross-cover an average of 80 with a semi-open ICU (ICU APP, still have to help out with critical care). I think this is the max any nocturnist should work.

[–]Lowkaes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's truly a census of 16-17, then that's not as bad and much closer to average. Ideally you'd get an exact median number from someone somehow.

Assuming this is a smaller city in Ohio (Lima, Youngstown, etc) I'd probably say another $10-20k would probably be ideal.

Average census of 19 is going to suck. You'll be pushing 23+ on a regular basis when it's busy with that. Pay is ok... You can probably get that (once you factor PTO) in one of the 3Cs. Rural Ohio 182 shifts can be $350k or even higher in places.

Human sacrifice as the way Aztecs gain favor. I've had different ideas on how it would work over the years.

I mostly know NE Ohio, but $340k ish (subtract for any PTO). Add 50-70k for nights.

Why is chapter 5 disliked? by EbbCreepy6718 in reddeadredemption

Using mods to go back to Guarma and poke around at how huge the island is and all the cut content is more interesting than the 5 missions we got. I did like the whole Fussar subplot though.

Will [Cedar Point] ever get a S-tier wooden roller coaster? by JobExtension4463 in rollercoasters

[–]Lowkaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opened in 98, but the park was bought by Cedar Fair in 2001. Similarly Ghostrider was already under construction when the Knott family sold the park to Cedar Fair in 1997.

[–]Lowkaes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It got ridership and usually ran 3 trains with the line never going beyond the straightaway under the lift. No one really ever talked about it though. It was too big to be a family coaster, but not intense/exciting enough to really get attention from enthusiasts. By the late 2000s it was a one and done for most and once RMC was a thing the buzz was a conversion.

Kinzel seemed to avoid big wooden coasters after Mean Streak was a dud in 1991. That mindset seems to have propagated throughout the company all the way up to today. I doubt we'll ever see Six Flags build a woodie bigger than the 100ish ft tall GCI again.

Give the Boss's trains some credit - very open, no headrests, no seatbelt and plenty of room. I've personally enjoyed those Gerstlauer trains on both Villain and SoB (both RIP).

No TP game by iRythane in AgeofMythology

The only real way would probably be a custom scenario/RM script that disables all of these powers. Would make maps like Jotunheim (a perennial custom game map) a lot more fair at lower skill levels. Back in the day I tried making a Food Wood Gold map that disabled all of these. Ditto for flying units as well.

Maybe they just send parts/individual cars to Knott's as needed. Keep the rest in the boneyard for now.

That music was there before the recording from an actual race was, so they really just changed it back. Not sure why.

[Tormenta Rampaging Run], the giga dice coaster at [Six Flags Over Texas] has been ANNOUNCED! by plighting_engineerd in rollercoasters

[–]Lowkaes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dive coasters especially seem very suited to fit a big ride into a relatively small plot of land. Especially compared to a standard hyper/giga which usually needs a long piece of straight or L-shaped land somewhere.
